Today did some work to modify my SMR 1224 for the use with Usals .
First removed the reedswitch en replaced the magnet wheel for one slot wheel .
Put the optical sensor board at the right place , there is plenty of room in there .
Set the limit switches to 80º E and 75 W making a 155º turn
Counted the pulses (430) with a separate counter , 2.77 pulses / degree
For Usals it must be approx. 39 pulses / degree so i made a 14 slot wheel (max. 34 mm dia )
Now counting 6050 pulses at 155º
Tested with my already with SG2100 circuitboard modified V-box , showed me its 100% OK !

Wow! How does it work then? You have a coax cable going to receiver with another 36v feed going to it?

Its just the start at the workbench , to let it work like a SG2100 , i have to build 2 endswitches in the 1224 .
One for the "Zero" point and one endswitch .
The zero switch is closed when the dish is in the east sector , the endswitch (one) works for E and W since the zero switch let the electronic know in wich sector the dish is .
Without these switches you cant use the "Go to reference" function .
Coming from W the rotor stops as soon the zero switch is closed , coming from E , the rotor turns untill the zero switch is open and than turns back till its closed .
Beside the SG circuitboard , there must also build in a relay interface controlled by the M+ and M- motorleads from the SG circuitboard and powered by a external adapter (30-36 V)

At a other H2H rotor , a very unknown RM120 , attached to my Fibo 120 , i build on top the housing of a SG2100 without the E-motor and gearbox .
The SG shaft is connected with the RM120 shaft , in this way it is possible to use the SG endswitches .
In the SG housing also a relay interface controlled by the M+ and M- motorleads from the SG circuitboard and powered by a old printer adapter (30 V)
RM compleet.jpg contactor interface inside SG2100.jpg RM SG inside.jpg

The so called modified V-box is in fact a old positioner (Clearmax CX2200) from wich i use the E/W relais and the transformer / rectifier .
These E/W relays are now controlled via 2 diodes by the M+ and M- motorleads from the SG circuitboard .
For the use with this positioner its neccesary to bring the 3 sensor wires (and the 2 motor leads) from the rotor into the house to that trUst-box .
In V-boxes and positioners are always also 12 V available , so i attached a switch to change the motor powering between 36 and 12 V for exact positioning .
This U-box has also two E/W buttons to control the E/W relays without making chances in the SG memory , this option makes it possible to find the reference .
Just start with the rotor approx at zero , select in the Usals menu a satelite close to zero , wait till the rotor stops and make corrections with those E/W buttons .
This can also be done with the E/W button on the SG circuitboard but they are on the back of the U-box .

The latest U-box that i made for my friends PaulvR for his Usals AJAK H180 , was a Drake positioner in wich i brought these E/W button of the SG circuitboard to the front of that positioner .

Today I found some time to make those end and Zero (sector) switch .
In a SG2100 they are above each other , under the SMR1224 cover is hardly space for that version
So I made a smart curve disc that kept the switches at the same level .
The next thing is to make a slim nave for that curve disc that also fits under the cover .
Near the SG circuitboard the relays for the 36 V powering
The test on the workbench was succesfull .

Good stuff, I've got a diseqc sg2100 motor that I'm not using and I'm very interested in this modification.

So the bits from the diseqc motor won't fit inside the 1224 motor?

The main SG circuitboard will fit verywell under the cover at the backside .
For a board with the 2 relays is also room enough .

Here the final version of the SMR1224 Usals .
Changed the position of the E /W button at the SG board because it was hidden behind the bottom casing of the 1224 .
Beside the 36 v power leads (red and black) , connect also 2 wires (green and yellow) parrallel to the E /W button to control the rotor without to go in the Usals menu .
And 2 wires (brown and bleu) to the extra relay board , connected to 2 leds showing wich direction the rotor turns .
