I know no Russian either.
And I do not have any of the materials to hand.

But it seems the white foam bits would seem to work as a scalar.
Similar techniques are used for naroow (aka "bullet") LNBs for close mounting on multifeed antennas.
Unsure of the perfromance relative to a well-tuned feed-horn, but I would speculate that you won't get massive advantage compared to a wel-designed feed-horn.

I too would be interested in what the story being told on the videos are ... do they claim low price, or high gain?
(or miracle reception??)

Well the little thing I have been able to understand is that they promise more gain, basically their intention is to eliminate the need of using a scalar ring because with this “revolutionary” design the LNB concentrates the wave and signal better and the isolation material transfer it better to the circuits boards inside reducing lost to more or less minimal.

I have one of this LNB at home, received some years ago for a test report.

It works but nothing very amazing , it s a little bit better (link largin) on a part of the frequency range but the gain is not linear and it s a cheap "home made" lnb.

You can forget it, no miracles...

It is a modification that normally gets used on a small prime focus dish to reduce the shadow of the scalar feed.

The foam has two properties in this case, providing a better match to the reflector shape than a scalar feed, and to act as a holster for the rivets, which by their shape act as 'stubs', which are also a method of reducing some of the mismatch between the components in the installation.

The owner probably had no supply of an offset feedhorn and adapter to clamp on the boom arm, which would most likely give similar improvements over a flat scalar system.

The thing is, I have an offset Channel Master 1.8, would I see an improvement with this device? because I can already lock the 58w C pretty well.

Thanks

Ive not used one but I would say no, buy a chaparral feed horn and put a good quality PLL LNB on it.

Is your dish inverted ?
Have you tried a compatible/matched feed before ?

A friend here, his name is Rima sent me an adaptor for C band LNB which is working very nice so far, but it'll be cool to learn a bit more....

Thanks.

I can not say "I did not read Pasternak, but I condemn him." :-rofl2 However, from what I've tried ( I have several product from this company in Moscow ) I like very much. Actually he is not inventing LNB, but he is adopting feedhorns for them, and those feedhorns are specially designed to be installed on antennas with different opening angles (usually we speak about 70* or 90*). One of his LNBs I have now installed on my Andrew 4.6m and with that I can get UK beam from 28.5*E. So, I personally think that it is worth to have his LNBs installed.

I remenber my emails exchange and according to the man who made these russian moddded lnb, ("Alyno") , there are better result with a 1.2m instead of a 1.8 or bigger.
Never tested on a dish smaller than 1.80m, if someone want to make a test...
