Viewers in parts of the south west have been complaining that they are getting Welsh programmes from Wenvoe instead of their own programmes as they retune their dtt boxes:

..been having this problem for some time now (winter hill) ...
since most cheep n cheerfull boxes have no provision for scanning per transponder ..
The easiest workaround is to unplug the aerial ...and reconnect just over halfway through the auto scan...thus avoiding the wesh programs (no disrespect to our welsh friends)..

ok if you have an idea what you are doing ...but surely this can't be considered 'acceptable' for general consumption.

I agree.

It is totally unfair on all the old people and the people who have no idea about technology. It should have been sorted out years ago.

DSO has only been underway just over a year - how could it have been sorted out "years ago"?

Theres been massive overlap areas for years - in the 1980's I lived in Cannock in Staffordshire - down in ATV / Central land. When we had high pressure I could get Anglia off Sandy Heath easy as anything. One one memorable occasion I got Dutch TV! And once, and once only Granada off Winter Hill :)

I mean they should have anticipated it from the start and found some way to allow the viewer to choose their local service by a simple menu once the scan had finished.

As you say there are lots of places with totally overlapping services, the Bristol Channel and the Liverpool-North Wales-Manchester areas being pretty big. The Midlands and East Anglia is even bigger! Surely someone would have thought of the problems there?

Getting Dutch TV is very impressive. That is quite some distance at UHF. :)

I wonder if they will get Norway in the summer at your work!
