Probably the brightest noctilucent cloud (NLC) display of this year. At first glance, thought an aeroplane cirrus trail was involved. Rocket launches are also known to provoke NLC's!
Attached one of my pictures, at the link a better equipped/experienced weather photographer.

Further to the pics I Posted a couple of days ago (Posts 477, 478, 479), I've now dreamed up an almost viable excuse for the following pics of the Millau Viaduct - It was the first habitat where we saw the pretty and unmistakeable Black Redstart.

I took SWMBO there for her Birthday ............................

Spotted some reindeer on the camera chilling out at our cottage in Lapland this morning, it's been quite warm there recently (27C) so looks like they are enjoying the shade.

Hmmm. Could be a Larva of one of the Fritillaries. Very hard to ascertain. Will keep checking our Book.

Well I'm plumping for the Fritillary, but there are a total of 108 species in Europe and our reference guide doesn't illustrate anything more than a handful of the Larvae - It's primarily geared to identification of the Butterflies (As used to help with those pics I posted on the previous page of this Thread).

Very well done, Sir!

Inclined to agree: The size was wrong for my own suggestion (Amongst other factors).

PS: SWMBO thinks it's "Whizzy".

Actually we're not well-up on Moths, but we have got a "Common Forester" on our bathroom window right now. Tiny little thing.

Now that reminds me of the delectable(!) Carmen: Not many years ago we were spending a few nights at a Guest House in the Pico's de Europa.

Of the other guests, two were German and two Spanish.

The Spanish lady spent her evenings collecting Edible Snails and hung them in an inadequate bag on a wooden pole in the Owner's Vegetable Garden.

One night they escaped and munched their way through the new green growth, laying waste to the plot.

Her husband spent all his time playing Golf.

I wonder why?
