Hold onto your hats as Storm Ciaran approaches. Where the winds get up past 60 mph in the south there could be a lot of trees brought down as they many of them still have lots of leaves on them.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

Jersey has already had gusts of over 100mph!

Frightening pics from northwestern France

"Serious" (or, at least, I hope!) comment - seems rather odd, don't you think, that none of the windows appear to be broken, so "why not" as I don't think that an "asault by nature" like that would normally have had that effect ?

Unless of course, and as CH opinioned, the building block material is very much softer than the (presumably double-glazed) windows (or do French builders use armoured glass)??

Some wild footage & incredible pics here:

Its weird seeing this - its been wet here today but very little wind.
Yes, London was missed, as well. The south coast however.

Local flooding is still a possibility this weekend, and loss of channels anytime.

(Was TFX on 5W a few minutes ago)

Somewhat weird image apart, I agree with the above - very little unusual weather in terms of wind &/or rain happened this afternoon/evening in West London.

Must say, I feel lucky - both Ciaran and the last storm appear to have missed us completely. No unusual wind and the usual crappy autumn rain.

My time will come...

Minor flooding in the lanes by last evening - but the biggest hazard was having to drive through two miles of narrow roads festooned with thorny debris from the hedge flails which are out in force now harvesting and nesting is over.

I don't want to quote Oscar Wilde's raucousness about English conversation about the weather, "...the un...."
Or when the same Irish wit Irishman says: "Pray don't talk to me about the weather, Mr. Worthing. Whenever people talk to me about the weather, I feel certain they mean something else. And that makes me quite nervous."
But English or not, as enthusiasts, we can be "nervous" when the weather/winter means we can't lock a signal or see a feed.:)
