I should be able to report at the end of today on what football ART Arabesque shows today.

Well, reasonable start to ART experiment.

Arsenal v WBA currently live 12.45 kick off; French commentary and reasonable/acceptable picture (though clearly low bit rate) on the Art Arabesque/Showtime channel.

Also, 12.30 kick off (at least, I think it is live) is French football, ASM v PSG, on ART Sport 3. ETA I may be wrong but this seems to have slightly better picture quality than the Arsenal match.

Bitrates for channels appearing to be showing Arsenal v WBA from the epg info:

Art Arabesque - 1780ish - audio 128

Art Sports 3 for the other game - 2400 ish - audio 128

Sky Italia Sports 1 is showing Arsenal WBA - they are using 5500ish - audio 256

Nova Sports 1 - 5500ish - audio 96

DigitAlb Sports 1 2000ish - audio 128

Cool A/S; what about Premiere? That is the one that I'm actually watching though intermittently as Olympics kind of has priority.

A bit of smugness now: I got the ART card full package (Movies and Sport) for £60; otherwise, I don't personally bother with the buying of cards or CAMS malarkey.

Just had a quick peek (been watching Olympics):

Rangers v Dundee on ART Sport 3; 3PM kick off. ETA come to think of it, this can't be live as today's match is Rangers v Hearts (??)

No apparent 3pm Premiership match.

17.30 Kick off: Sunderland v Liverpool, ART Arabesque/Showtime Maghreb, French commentary; much improved picture quality.

ETA If you have no options, match also available on 11307 H 27500 on 28e, NTA with poorer picture quality.

Further Edit It was actually and i saw it; they must have switched due to lack of international rights; I'm sure the local NTA still has it.

Canal Sport 2 for the Everton match bitrate was around 4500.

Surprised that NovaSport was that high for the Arsenal game, must be improving or its just because nothing is on any of the other NovaSport channels at the moment.

Is Nova Sport 8 starting, there is a message in greek on the novasport 2-7 channels taking about 25/8/2008 and the only other thing i can make out is Nova 8!

Showtime Maghreb on the ART package showed Arsenal v West Brom, Sunderland v Liverpool, Chelsea v Portsmouth and Manchester United v Newcastle. All had French commentary. Quality was perhaps slightly better than Digitalb standard.

Nope. Canal Digital on 1W is secure behind Conax, so its subscription or card share only.

As a noobie can I ask the question that if Canal Digital is card sharing or subscription only does that mean a Dreambox/Linux receiver would be the way to go? I had read somewhere that conax was ok with the Diablo 2.3 cam.

The Scandinavian Canal Digital conax channels on 1°w are all obtainable using the latest Diablo v2.3 cam.

But nothing is guaranteed for the future.
