Hello all,

Im Oatcake from sunny Stoke.

Im really interested about getting live Stoke City games in my living room every saturday, my question is... How ?

What setup do i require, what reciever what dish, and anything else you can think of.
Im not really intrested in anything else at the moment because i have a db500c hooked up to vm so i get anything esle i want to watch pretty easily.
I was a sky+ subsciber for 4 years and sky digital 4 years prior to that... Thats 8 years of skytv bills at around £60 per month, it sickens me to even think whats ive spent with them.... sorry wasted!

Ill have to stop there or ill be ranting about sky tv for paragraphs to come so i wont waste my breath or even my fingers ache by typing how incompetent and over priced there service is..... Ssshhh, sorry im done.

Is Anyone willing to help me to get up and running by watching my stoke games week in week out ?

What do i need to buy ?

Thanks guys.

First question is "how much are you willing to spend??"

Foreign football subscriptions cost anything from 300 quid a year for a basic version giving you a couple of Prem games a week up to nearly 1500 quid a year for an HD service that gives you a decent selection of the games.

(Prices quoted are for buying subscriptions using a UK based reseller.)

However I doubt you will find a service that guarantees to give you an unfashionable team like Stoke every week. :D

I knew it sounded too good to be true, im just glad ive asked the questions before buying the gear :D

If there really was a cheaper way than Sky to get Premiership Games every Saturday, with the same level of coverage and commentary, then every man and his dog would be doing it.

:-googly

The real problem is that there is not enough competition in the UK so Sly is squeezing as much as possible out of their subscribers. Not so much that most throw in the towel but enough to make some sweat.

Well...

some of the pubs in stoke show the stoke game live pretty much week in week out, ive always wondered how they did it. I just didnt realise how much it cost per anum to actually do it thats all and what was required.

So basically what you are telling me is i can pay £300-£1500 per year to watch a bunch of football teams i dont even care about ? :D
if so, forget it .

Thanks for the help

The problem is that the Prem League have cottoned onto the fact that folk have discovered the European pay tv services as a way of getting their desired PL fix.

Providers that couldnt or wouldnt stop the flow of cheap cards into the UK have had their contracts terminated at the next renewal, so the days of 100 quid cards for a decent choice of 3pm kickoffs are long gone.

Hi,

I helped set up a couple of the pubs in Stoke.

Mainly using a Technomate 5400 and motorised dish.

Think most of the pubs are now getting in via streams / slingbox these days.

When you get pm facility we can talk more.

Thanks
