I had 160 GB western digital HD. It wont play movies well. I took it back to the store for replacement since I bought it a few weeks prior. Now with the new one I am having the same problem again. It wont play movies after a few weeks of installation. The question is: Is DreamB capable of spoiling HD if there is a defect in it or this is coincidental in the HD itself?

Is it a 7200rpm model? Is it overheating?

I am not sure about the RPM but it is model no. wd1600AABB-00PUAO and it gets quite warm when working. By the way those problems happen when it is about full with recordings.

Well I would suggest that is the problem, it indeed features a fast 7200 RPM spindle speed thus when getting full the HD is trying to find space to put data and is working harder and harder the less space available, it is already hot from the increased speed and therefore get even hotter. Always recommended is a 5400 rpm drive

It is probably a good time to delete some of the recordings that you don't really need or copy/move some files to a PC, using LAN connection and FTP application.
Try to select only one file at a time, as it can take for ever to copy multiple files and this would make you think that there is something wrong with the PC.
The file extension is *.ts and you can play it on the PC using Nero player or make a DVD out of it using Nero Vision.

Can anyone recommend a good 5400 rpm disk? I can't see any of any great capacity on eBay, most disks on sale there are 7200 rpm.

It is getting more and more difficult to find IDE HDD, especially 5400 rpm, as the market need now is for SATA.
I would suggest to consider 2.5" IDE HDD (used in laptops) at 5400 rpm.
You will need an adapter (mechanical and electrical).
They will be quieter and consume less power.

What other equipment do you have? To make use of the wireless card you need a wireless router
