My Satellite Setup
1.2 channel master, cm polar mount, 12 inch actuator, Andrews feedhorn, Inverto lnb, Superjack positioner, Dreambox dm 500s, Protek 9600ip, 1m channel master with black ultra & 1m gibertini with technomate twin output lnb on astra 1/2, TM 5200 & 1000

Last week i installed my new motorized system which is a 1m gibetini, invacom 0.3db lnb, technomate 2300 motor, technomate 5200 receiver.

I have brilliant quaility of 98% on most of the sats i can receive, which is 18 positions stored.
the weekest sat would be badr 26e, mbc's are 66% and mtv arabia 70%, which would be normal as i am in ireland.
The problem is that the signal at times on 42 e keeps dropping with picture break ups.
It's a bit weird i never seen the signal drop like it does, mtv turkey would be 94% then down to 70 with break ups then to 66 and gone then it can shoot back up,its weird as all my other sats are perfect and a 1m dish is more than enough.

This just happens at night, but only on and off.
I cant understand why only some tp's break up and not all of them as the rest are 94% quality to ON 42E.

I took my time alligning, used triax tx 100 cable, made sure all conections were spot on.

Could this be an lnb problem as the casing of the lnb was cracked when i received it, It's like it fell as it was not boxed right. I glued it back together hopiing it would be ok.

Its the only reason i can think of which is causing the problem as i have such brilliant signal overall.

More likely be due to the equinox. At this time of year the satellite can be in the earth's shadow - so it has to switch from solar to battery power (which is lower).

If it is the equinox should my signal quality say drop from 94% to maybe 85%.

Its weird as i was watching mtv turkey 0n 42e and it was fine at 94% then picture break up, then goes black and cnn and a few others on astra 2 which i have 98% quality, aswell as mtv arabia on badr 26e which has 70% quality went aswell, again perfect.

This morning hellasat 2 @ 39e droped in signal out of the blue which is at 98% quality, no its perfect.

If it were eclipse it wouldn't be happening randomly. The current eclipse is between 21:50 and 22:12 BST for that satellite. Anything outside these times is not eclipse. It's more likely to be something like a tree being blown around and partially blocking line of sight of the dish to 39ºE and 42ºE.

A tree blocking line of sight would make more sense, but i have a good clear view.

All i can think of is a faulty lnb.

I am going to try the inverto black ultra and see.

Why doesn't it happen on other satellites? Actually I have noticed when I watch TNT on 42ºE it breaks up to pixels every so often.

But i didn't pay any attention cus I don't want that channel..
But seems you are having much problem regarding that.
I think it's about MPEG 4 Coding...
My Reciever does supports the coding, MPEG4.
But it will take some time to apear on my TV screen, thats time and thing what u are
telling here...

Problem solved, the invacom lnb was faulty, but first i tried an old icerypt lnb which gave poor quality, then i tryed an andrews feedhorn and inverto lnb, which gave better signal quality than the invacom on some sats, and the most important part no sudden signal loss.
