My Satellite Setup
SKY DISH - LEYF receiver
My Location
KENT ,UK
Hello - Can anyone help please (hope this right place/forum as my first steps in sat receivers etc)

I replaced old goodmans SD sat box and as per BBC online advice (recent changover to HD ) with
current LEYF HD 0301 receiver box as was missing was channel 5 , BLAZE ,BBC hourly news.

I have blind rescanned all transponders for 28.2 e - but missing channel 5 and BLAZE.

The sat dish is very firm on wall - no looseness noticable except perhaps very slightly verticaly on LNB . Apparently
the LNB (5yrs old approx) is a sky LNB with 4 coaxal plugs is a universal LNB ?

Would a sat/signal meter help or might there be an setting I missed.

The default/factory settings for 28.2 are

universal (9750- 10600)
diseq c1.0 disable
" c1.1 "
22k greyed out
lnb power auto
motor setup auto

signal 90%
quality 65%

Thank you for any help/advice.

Settings look okay, perhaps set Motor Setup to Off. The channels you are missing appear to be all low band horizontal so that may indicate an LNB issue. Have you gone through every channel to see which ones don't work?

If the LNB is Sky branded it could be a hybrid type, with two outputs for Sky Q and two for legacy receivers, however if your cable was connected to the Sky Q port you'd be missing many more channels.

A cheap meter will help you adjust the dish. Also if you look straight at the dish the cables should be exiting the LNB at about halfway between 6 and 7 o'clock.

That's a Sky mk4 universal quad LNB so any of the outputs should work, though you could try moving the cable to another one.

It looks like the LNB is rotated too far clockwise but it may just be the angle of the photo.

Which transponder are you getting those readings on? They are not all the same. I have a 1.1 m dish on the east coast of Ireland, not perfectly aligned. Blaze is only 6.2 dB, just about enough for a SD channel. Channel 5 HD is 9.4 dB, anything under 8 for HD is liable to break up. By contrast BBC One NI HD is 17 dB.

Have you checked all the transponders to see what other signals you could be missing?

Channel 5 is on 11306H, there is also a transponder on 11306V which means if skew (rotation of the LNB ) is incorrect the signals will interfere with each other - reducing signal quality more than if there wasn't a transponder on the opposite polarity.
