ice hockey pucks with a slot cut into them
Having taken a look at those, they are half the thickness of the ones referenced and might work for a lightweight vehicle but a heavy one would soon cut them in two - apart from the hassle of having to cut slots in each & every one - so I'll go with the "special purpose" ones (which I already have)! :)

LIDL from Thrs 24th: Dymotag LetraTag 100H label maker for £19.99 - I broke my old one just over a couple of weeks ago and had to get another from Amazon and it cost £32!:(

NB: these work perfectly well with 3rd party labelling tapes at about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the OEM ones.

Lidl from Thursday 21st July: "Parkside Precision Screwdriver Set" £7.99, consisting of a plastic case containing:
  • 4x cross-tip: PH000 x 75mm; PH00 x 75mm; PH0 x 75mm; PH1 x 75mm
  • 3x slot: SL 0.4 x 2.0 x 75mm; SL 0.4 x 2.5 x 75mm; SL 0.5 x 3.0 x 75mm
  • 5x star screwdrivers: T5-T8-T9-T10-T15 x 75mm
  • 2x hex: H2.5 x 75mm; H3 x 75mm
I bought an earlier and smaller set (6 screwdrivers, no hex ones) several years and ago and they've proved very good, robust and easy to use (and the case is large enough for me to have added 5+ other, smaller screwdrivers and other useful "bits & pieces"), and comes in handy on a weekly/daily basis - therefore I've little hesitation in suggesting you take a look at this new one to see if it's of any use to you.

They'll also have a larger "Parkside Screwdriver & Bit Set" for £11.99 from the same date.

Try these Plasma Cutters they have the hyperthem ones which have inbuilt air compressors. If you want a separate compressor they do them as well check out Air Compressors.

It is not my birthday today, not even Christmas or Easter, but decided to do a present to myself. I finally went wireless with angle grinder (most used tool in the garage). IMG_20230411_214137a.jpg

FWIW, I think that that's a battery-powered unit - don't think there's any "wireless" element there!

"That time of year for Lidl Garage tools", and I spotted a couple that might be useful to someone:
- "Parkside 2-in-1 Car Creeper" £29.99 - I bought one of these 3-4 years ago and it's proved very useful, mainly as a stool with wheels that I used for a variety of jobs (before my back got so bad ) in the garage, house and garden. The only real issue I found was that the castors don't lock and so it slides back too easily, but cured that by fitting locking castors!
- "Walter Torque Wrench 80-240NM", £22.99. Seems to a pretty basic version from a reputable (?) German manufacturer, and not one of their standard range (search on-line for that) but could be useful for someone who needs one occasionally.

Also a lot of stuff like T-Cut, Redex, etc.

They've also 20% off if you spend £15 on car accessories on their App

Karchers usually fail when they are put away with water in the chambers and then the frost hits.
Out of curiosity/"nostalgia" I'm having a look through this thread and noticed CH's comment as above and can comment as follows:

The cheap (less than a £100) models certainly do fail but the more expensive ones (I have two in different sizes) failed when the motor capacitors failed: I found replacement caps for about £10-£15 each and repaired both of them. "Awkward" repairs due to the need for very long allen keys and fiddly reassembly but they've both worked since doing that several years ago.

Not had any real leakage issues, but I tend not to leave them in a cold garage over Winter.

Just picked up the Lidl flyer for the period from Thrs 24th onwards - some useful stuff in there but not yet on their website, such as
- Parkside 12V Cordless Angle Grinder for £29.99, with spare 76mm discs available too - from searching elsewhere,it looks to be the PWSA ...
Another Parkside 12V tool that I can recommend from experience - used quite a few times (demolishing the old garage racks, removing a couple of droplinks from the Skoda, shortening small bolts, etc.) because it's small & very handy in tight spaces.

BTW: I'd now always recommend the Parkside 12V 4AH LiOn batteries over the 1.5A ones because they last a lot longer and don't cost that much more

BTW2 if you can't find the batteries in Lidl (they are "seasonal") , then they are usually available on eBay UK at inflated prices because people buy them just to resell there, so you can tell they're popular!

OTOH, the more recent tools are higher voltage and don't take the same batteries as the older ones.

Afternoon all

Story is that I have a very good Bosch mains-powered big sabre saw, but it's a bit of a faff to get it out for small jobs, and a bit unweildy for some of those as well - so was looking at a cordless one, but Bosch ones are pricey, and even the Lidl equivalent can be around 70 quid, plus either of those probably means another battery and charger format (already got 4 different ones).

Then I saw this Lidl Parkside Cordless Branch Saw for 30 quid and which claimed to use the same 12V batteries as some of the other cheap Lidl 12V tools I've got and also use "standard blades". OTOH, the "steel cage" over the blade looked as if it might get in the way of normal cutting..

Anyway, I picked one up this morning, and
- it does use the same batteries as I already have (and now another charger) and so I already have some spares
- it takes exactly the same blades as the big Bosch sabre saw, and for which I already have plenty for cutting a variety of materials - putting in a normal fine-medium wood cutting blade was quick & easy (tooless change mechanism), and that cut some pieces of 2"x1" timber dead easily
- you don't need the cage, and in fact it's not even fitted and is just loose in the case!
- it has a 3yr warrantee (OK, I know that that will be another faff to take up if necessary!)!

Therefore, although it's advertised as a "Branch Saw" it's really just a very handy cordless mini sabre saw at a very low price!!
Over the years, this tool has proved THE MOST useful (to me, at least!) and versatile of all the LIDL 12v tools, and it seems to be still going strong - hopefully the current (whenever it's available!) 20V version should prove as good and, if so, can be thoroughly recommended!

Lidl again, from Sunday 2nd Aug - a "sat beeper" for £4.99.

Nothing unusual in that (although it's a bit cheaper than most of those on the online stores) except that, when you look at it closely, you see that it appears to have LED's to show the presence of 22kHz, 0Hz & 18V or 13V on the cable from the receiver - can't say I've seen those elsewhere.

Also, various other DIY/garage tools here.
OTOH, that's one thing I can't recommend - no better than your "average" sat beeper, and worse in that it made a lot of noise in the process!
