hi VS I have been reading about this Ka lnb with interest but trying to get my head around it,please tell me if I am right or wrong with this lnb,if I put the left hand Ka feed at focus then connect a SUP-2400 on a single line back to the receiver then put 22Khz up the line that will give me Band A.

Yep ..
you got it ..
BUT only after modding the the SUP to be permanently on ..
OR using a TBS card with a modified crazyscan..with which you can send the hex code needed to turn the SUP on..
If you place the right hand lnb at the focus ..exactly the same but no 22khz ..

Been tracking my 2nd SL3K4NR1 Llew ..and it is now in the country with 13Ten ..
so would expect it to be delivered in the next day or so ..
Just letteing you know ..as you ordered yours at roughly the same time.

Yes, cheers. Tracking info came up with the 13Ten carrier an hour ago, so it's on its way.
Got the 2400 converters a few days ago, so I'll be modifying one today.

Mybe not the best day to test it tho' ..
Newsnet newsroom feed currently below lock at 7.2db
Thick cloud overhead ..
Tomorrow should be clearer.

hi VS got mine today did the modification on the 2400 connected to the lnb and roughly put it on dish did a scan on 19E and got a racing channel so far needs fine tuning but at least it works,for the local oscillator I put in 20450 in the TM-5402

Welcome to the Ka Klub Pride ..
Sadly no Ocko ..these days so one less channel to go for ..but I guess the News feeds are worth going for ..

certainly a relatively cheap way in to this part of the spectrum.

Just keep in mind that you will get both H and V at the same time ..but reduced by a couple of db from levels you would receive on a true linear lnb.
;)

Also worth a go is the true circular Left mini 2 channel mux from Turksat 4A ..(42East) ..assuming you can see it ok ..
even partially masked by my troublesome tree ..I can lock this at around 7db.

thanks VS I don't fancy doing the mod on a 2400 again very fiddly,i used my wifes very slim nail scissors which cut the pins then soldered the wire to the remaining pin on the board.

..Just in case you are testing your SL3 today Pride..
I can find no News activity from Newsnet atm..
The main office camera feed is off atm ..but the transponder is still lockable at around 8.5 db this morning.
18559 3330sr ...but this wont apply on a conventional receiver as the scale is not relevant.
No secondary OB links evident..
You _may_ be able to lock Penthouse 3D atm 18366V ..but evening onwards is best as a minimum lock level of 1.5 db is needed
15000 1/2 ...but encrypted of course.

As to the mini (test) mux from Turksat ..
This may well have ended ..
I can't find the smallest trace at 18667L ..
I'll let you know if it re-appears.
Bad time to take delivery of the SL3 ..

Just a quick check on the accuracy of the new SL3 in kaB (part) operation..
ie no sup2400 connected.
Carl pointing at roughly 37.5 East ..
Scan clearly shows a circular polarised signal at 19706
10000 fec 1/2

A similar peak was found when using the Hughes a while back..
Same frequency (actually 19707 on the hughes) same fec but sr back then was lower..
I believe this is the same peak now captured on the SL3..

If you wish to use the SL3 in ka bands A or B (part) ..I recommend covering the centre port (ku) with some ally tape or similar...
This avoids much confusion.

Out for delivery usually means it's with the courier in the van..

Been having a terrible job getting a lock on the newsroom feed with the new _unmodified_ SL3 ..
Took a quick db reading and was getting around 8db max ..
So as quick as I could I replaced it with my first SL3 and the news room feed was an instant lock on the TBS card ..
9.2db ..
This one as you know has had the septum removed and can only do Vertical Linear now ...but has also had the resonance chamber encompassing the probes modified ..
insofaras the chamber divider a cast ally wall bisecting the chamber has been removed ..
Ok ..so maybe this SL3 is higher gain than the second one ..but my reasoning says not..
Personally I believe the physcal mods were neccessary ..
I can no longer use this one to lock the Nag feed (H) on the leftmost port ..but then I wasn't expecting to ..
It is V only now and has at least a 1.2 db adavantage over the unmodified one.
Glad I bought a second SL3 as I can experiment without regret on the first one.
I'll post a photo of the chamber mod next time I remove it..
The mod was achieved by grinding an HSS drill flat at the tip and fitting it in the stand drill..

SL3 arrived at last via Yodel (!)

The driver said her van had a breakdown yesterday, so I assume it was transferred to another van today.

Just need now to fashion a bracket of some sort. Do I need to position the LNB vertically with the RH KA LNB at the focus, with the modded converter in line to receive the Newsnet frequencies?
