Hello!

today,i recogneized, that the pound is now lower then the euro, around 18%

_http://.oanda.com/convert/classic

around 15 month ago 100 pound was 150€..

in some newsletters i read, that the uk vat is now lower from 17.5 to only 15%

in most other european countrys, the vat is between 19% and 23%

but everywhere,everthing coasts more!
but what will happend, when the long awaited $ crash is coming,i dont know,i could imagine, that the living coasts, food engergy etc, every 5 years coasts around 20% more...

Off to France on Tuesday, luckily I still have €250 left from my last trip and apart from buying a few cases of beer I don't spend too much there, so won't be too bad. :)

Hello!
yes there is, a big difrent,in the eu countrys,of engery and food coasts!

beer is here very cheap,one box with 25 bottels,around 10 to 12€

diesel now one liter 95 cent, under one euro, 3 month ago it was 1,35€/liter!

i go always, shoping,in germany, because the boarder is not far,and the food is around 25% cheaper!

but fuel coasts 20-to 25% more then here in austria!

Happy days for us here in Ireland...it means we can head up north and stock up on basically everything...
What a month for us Irish shoppers with the UK VAT rate dropping and current low exchange rate, makes a change from the usual Humping we get!!! lol
Happy Christmas to all at Satellites.co.uk, thanks for all the advice and help during the year.

We were there last weekend and prices were pretty scary! You can get quite a good price from Majestic in Calais (if you pay in sterling). Bon voyage!

Yes, the boot is certainly on the other foot at the moment. It would probably pay the French to shop in UK for the first time in ages. Doesn't bode well fot Cite Europ though which was very quiet.

I smell a "will we join the Euro". referendum.

If I were a UK citizen, my vote would be, dont!

We have no control of the value of our currency in Ireland because of the euro. The UK is our closest trading partner, so its not in this country's interest (Or the UK's) to have a euro thats too strong against the sterling.

Before the euro, measures could be taken to tweak the value of the currency if situations like this arose, Not any more, its all up to the big wigs in Brussels who have their own agenda.

Hi there!
i think it is good, when a country has ,the posibility to vote, for a currency!
only uk and sweden, make a referendum,4 years ago,all other eu member countrys, did no one ask,if the want the € or not!

this is something, what i will never understand!
and this should never happen in a democracy!
that the people, dont get the posiblilty from the goverment,if the want a new currency or not!

food coast,are now 2-3 times higher,then for 5 years!

but normaly it should be difrent, when thausends of companys produce millions of tons of difrent food, for a market of pver 100 mio people, why, then the food, that everyone needs, are not cheaper, when internatinal companys, produce,in much larger masses, then before, european union!

a conspiracy theory says,that the american $ will,also changed,in the future,with a new currency called "amero"

used for usa /canada and mexico!
we will see what the future will bring!
i think always positive!

Yeah, shopping trips down your way put on hold in this household now,
Border towns up here doing a roaring trade,
Ikea in Belfast, I have to keep looking out the windows at the 2 giant cranes in the shipyard to convince myself Im in the north, is anyone doing any shopping in the south, LOL

The stampede up here even had a minister in the Irish parliament telling citizens it was their duty to spend their euros in the South

Ireland rejected the Lisbon treaty recently, we were the only country to have a referendum on it. (Even though they dont care what we said) The government were pro Lisbon treaty and they didnt like the result of the referendum, so it looks like they are going to make us vote again in the hope that it will be a yes this time.

They (The Government) think that we voted no because the anti EU people filled our heads with nonsense, and, thus they think that this will be easily overturned by scaring us into another referendum.

They are not seeing the whole picture, I and the people who I know voted no were not doing so because of neutrality, abortion, a common drug policy (meaning tat of the Netherlands) or whatever else they thought was the reason.

It was very simply because the EU is getting too big or its boots and interfering with things that have no bearing on good trade, only on perpetuating red tape.

I am pro EEC, but I voted no to Lisbon treaty. I bought into the idea of a common market. Not a common government. I preferred the idea of the EEC rather than the EU.

We have our own D1ckhe@ds in power, the last thing we need is another D1ckhe@d like [SIZE=-1]Nicolas Sarkozy telling us what we should do.

Sorry, rant over ;)

One of our stupid ass (retired) ministers here in the north west was recently speaking about what great deals were to be had in NI, apparently that's where he buys all his shirts.

What a plonker. Everyone everywhere is trying to do the best by their local traders, then we get one of our leaders recommending buying in another country

His name is no secret, he is the same guy the cops caught driving up the wrong side of a dual carriageway after a binge not too long ago.

,,,,,,,,, what a plonker.

good morning @ all!:)
nice to see that also someone is wake up,in the early morning:)

the only good thing,in the€ is,that all electronic decives are cheaper then before the new curreny, with this duping prices ,on big plasmas or what ever, the try to push the economy, but in other kategorys like food it is via versa!

,so we can do nothing, only wait, and drinking tea!
thats all!
often i think sometimes,is it better, when i dont watch tv,or surfing internet,in the "old"days wind down then today!

its intresting,to know, many thinks, but when you dont know it,you feel sometimes better!

good night!

But according to this article, the banks 'did not understand'.

I suppose things like that happen when you are on a roll.

So what's this all going to do with the price of imported satellite gear in the new year if more companies are using the Euro....... hmm.
