I am interested in finding out how many dreambox owners use the GotoXX feature and what percentage manually search.

is it more to do with the images???
heres a poll to find out

can i just ask you something? what is this poll meant to prove? it doesn't matter what image the person uses but as yu said not many do use gotox, maybe what you should of done is done a poll in the motorised forum and said do you use usals or gotox, the image the person uses is quite irrelivent because usals/gotox do the same job on any image.

if they do for you, then your lucky.... i find that its about 50/50

the latest Gemini images dont work on mine 4.0 or 4.1 but some of the older Gemini do?( and reading the forums many other people too)

the idea of the poll is to see if its the same for everyone.

I've found very few images which work with Gotox, unfortunately I've forgotten which image I had which actually did.

I seem to remember the Hydra images were always good with GotoXX

I seem to have a vague recollection that it may have been the first satandream image, in fact I'm sure I mentioned it in a post somewhere.

well i once got the motor to turn on gotox but that was once, never again did it work, i was told to stay away from it anyways according to the sat guy who set mine up.

I use nabiliosat image. I used to use the gotox function...but now I use manual.

the reason being....I found that gotox was always slightly out after a few days.

could have been my cheap motor tho???

GotoXX has always worked here - I guess it it because when I installed the dish/rotor I spent ages getting it spot on.
Manual positioning can overcome a slightly misaligned dish - it only needs to be a fraction of a degree out for gotoXX not to work reliably.

I used to use Hydra and now use Gemini 3.4 - not had any need to upgrade yet!

with the success you have had so far djlemur, i would be very interested to see what happens when you install Gemini 4 or above?

just as a test, i will install version 3.4 and see what happens ;)

OK testing is now complete

i went back and installed
Gemin 3.4, 3.3, 3.0
Pli
SCVS
DMM 1.09

and could get none to work with GotoXX?

So heres what i did, lets asume for argument sake, the wind has moved my dish in the last 12 months? by only a fraction.

after a fresh image was installed, in this case the original Enigma 1.09
no channels or sats listed..

i went to sat finder and choose 13e
the dish moved, but no lock?
i went to motor setup and moved the dish west 1 step at a time.... after so long it picked Hotbird up

so i went to the long lat settings...
west was set at 2.124
taking into consideration that this is a (-) minus number, even though we dont enter it
this means i have to take some off, to go more west.

i entered 1.900

back to sat finder, sent to 16e then back to 13e
motor setup, step again.... and noticed it took alot less steps it was closer!

so west set at 1.500 and repeated

Locked 86% signal

tried this on other satellites and the results where fine.

still with no channel listing i went to multi sat scan and asked it to scan 13e, 19.2e, 28.2e, 30w choosing ALL

went away made a few toast and a brew.

come back all channels listed and working

easy peasy LOL

i have made that my base image now and installed Gemini 4.0, as its using the settings above its also working fine too woohoo!

Working fine here with Gemini 4.1 on a 7020 and I have to say I have never had a problem. Maybe lucky:-santa3

Further to my earlier post and prompted by sonic1's post, I have loaded one of the later Gemini images (3.6) in Flash and it works well on GotoX, don't think I've ever had a Gemini image on the 7000 before.

i have always used blackhole images on any of the dm800 clones ive had,

always work under USALS without a problem.

only thing i've ever done ids adjust my e/w a fraction to compensate for any movement over the 2 years that the dish has been up.
