I keep seeing the title of this thread and my mind is conjuring up images of a record album devouring mice....
Me too. Subject, object, who cares?

Sultanas ... one impaled on the spike on the platter and another under the platter which meant I could use it as a prop and set the trap finer. Any attempt to nibble the latter stood a far higher chance of resulting in a fatality.

I shall leave the carcasses until this afternoon, pour discourager les autres.

Still, can't be any worse than not thinking of orange penguins...

Cripes, it took long enough!

Shirley you know by now I never miss an opportunity to build ambiguity into my Topic Titles? ;)

Many moons ago we kept Hamsters (No I don't know why either....blame the kids)

We had one of them rotostack homes for them, the type you can keep adding too.
The job of cleaning these was down to me because the wife was frightened by them.... However one day she got brave and cleaned them all.

However she didn't put it back together properly and left one of the red caps off, the red cap was on the bottom.
So the hamsters helped themselves to some axeminister carpet for their bed... complete with underlay!

I removed the cage when I got home and looked at the floor boards.... "Hello is that the insurance company?"

I would argue that technically, the title does state plastic is consuming rodents.
Proper alternate interpretation of such juxtapositions of subject-object pairs requires disambiguing through the employment of a hyphen, as in: Vinyl-eating mice.

All clear this moaning.

Traps not tripped. Bait still in place.

I wonder if I had a male and a female preparing to breed?

They can't now ....

Perhaps the o/p can verify the actual material that is being used on the floor. The use of the word 'vinyl' may have been hasty and if not tiling, the mice are actually being consumed by something entirely different.

If they are taking the bait, have you thought about a humane mouse trap? By the time they get to the bait the trap has closed......disposing of the mouse afterwards may be a problem....we used to walk the dogs about 10km's away and release it there....

see Cats and what they like to eat :O)
yes, the releasing job became quite bothersome after a while but nice to watch these little things run to their freedom :O) Am at around 40 ! catches at my cottage, most in nov 2016 as there must have been many families living in the attic for a long time. Lately only one or two monthly, so no problem. The alive-trap (after adjusting the triggering) works very well.

Have mice or other critters in hidden areas???

Use an old farmers trick, if the area is not accessible to normal human traffic or is in a location that can't be reached by children, (under something, in an attic space or behind a cabinet) then a good liberal sprinkling of red cyan pepper will stop the chewing.

If you are going to do this then go to a dollar store and get the cheapest stuff you can get, and use a dust mask as this stuff will tear you up.

I sprinkle it around gofer, rabbit and ground squirrel holes (active ones) they never come back. (don't try this if you have dogs or cats)

A fun way to trap squirrels is with a barrel trap, a metal 5 to 35 gallon garbage can or other large metal barrel is used (metal is used as they will chew through a plastic one) along with a metal rod.

Two holes are drilled right below the top rime of the can, then a 2 liter plastic coke bottle with a hole at the bottom is used, the conduit is fed through the hole in the top of the can with the coke bottle at the center, make sure it rotates freely.

A liberal amount of peanut butter is spread on the center part of the coke bottle.

A small ramp up to the top of the garbage can is used to help the little critters out.

Here is a nice video to watch.

If you don't want the little SOB's around then put some soapy water in the bottom of the can. (deep enough so they can't stand up, the soap is added so they cant float)

Red Blue Pepper? Never heard of it... :-rofl2
What? Have you never heard of the Porsche Cyan, one of the most distinctive "cross-over style" cars that are available at a mark-up of about 80-90% compared to it's badge-brother the VW Touareg?

Getting vaguely back to the Topic, last night was also Mouse free, and SWMBO's sense of humour has returned, so I've disinfected the area where I laid the traps and put back the kitchen stuff that got peed and pooed on.

Hopefully that's the end of this incursion,
