Sling box - place shifting technology.

Someone in a remote location has the base unitconnected to their satellite receiver (or other av source) You connect to the base unit via fast broadband and watch the signals.

No governmental interference possible, unless they filter the slingbox packets.....

You need a FAST broadband connection at the remote location - Ive tested mine on a 350kbps upload and whilst it works enough to demonstrate the principle its not really watchable for any length of time.

There are slingbox hosting companies in America and the UK , but its NOT CHEAP. Last figures I saw was getting on for $100/month!

I have been having another search, for a Sci Fi channel, and the maps are a bit sketchy, especially regarding dish sizes required in your region, which is probably expected given the government restrictions.
If you have a bit of time to play with your dish you could try the following satellites, and channels:
AXN Sci Fi, Nordic Beam, 4.8E, part of Vision TV, 12207 V 27500
AXN Sci Fi, Europe Beam, 4.8E, part of Akta, 12149 H 27500
Sci Fi Deutschland, 9E, part of KabelKiosk, 12399 H 27500
AXN Sci Fi, 23.5E, part of CS Link, 11875 H 27500
AXN Sci Fi, 39E, part of Dolce TV, 12524 V 30000
AXN Sci Fi, 0,8W, part of Focus Sat, 12149 V 28000

If you have your internet working there are quite a few satellites for you to test, and any information you provide, regarding signal stregth readings, will help others in your situation.
