Id also question if you really need an inclined mount with a 2nd motor, For the very very rare occasions you might want to find something on an inclined bird the 1.8m has a really handy jack screw for tilt thats not difficult to adjust.
On a larger dish, 1.8 upwards with tighter beams, and capable of covering a good E to W wide arc, an inclined jack can come in very handy for poorly aligned dish arc tracking when looking at weaker signals especially.
Every village has oneIs there another Mr Addison in the village ?
Wanted: Raven 1.8m dish with inclined orbit polar mount and 2 actuators, Brand New, not to much money, must be in UK and able to deliver to me
No need to close the thread when something might turn up.If those aint no good, my recommendation would be that you ask an admin or a mod to close this topic.
You are only gonna get more of the same type of reply as posted so far by keeping the topic open. What you are asking for in your opening post and even at your adjusted budget of £500 is just not realistic.
...something might turn up....
So, divert to Norfolk. That was the philosophy of Mr Micawber who ended up in debtors prison before revitalising himself in Australia.
Certainly, the OP would have a chance in Australia for a 1.8m CM dish at closer to his budget.
I have just bought a brand new 1.8m Skyware Global setup, boxed and palleted for $650 AUD for a potential new global grid location in Sydney, NSW.
So, divert to Norfolk.
You know you want to.
so whats the best size dish for feed hunting here in the uk? 1.2m, 1.8m, or 2m for picking up feeds that im currently unable to pick up?
great thanks can u post pics of your dish please and where u brought it from thanks, i love feed hunting and want to do more in the future but im gonna need a much bigger dish for this and looking for suggestions and think yours maybe the right one, the easier to maintain the better, ill have a look at 1.8m onesPersonally, I mainly use a 1.5m and on the rare occasions it struggles with a feed I use a 2.0m on a mobile platform.
I have found a 1.2m is OK and gets quite a few feeds but there are some it does not get that the 1.5m gets.
If you wanted to be getting close to receiving 100% of the Ku-Band feeds visible to a UK location I would suggest a 1.8m.
A 1.8m is probably easier to source than a 2.0m. It might be a question of what is available when you are looking around?
As you go up in sizes the requirements such as mount, anchorage and motorisation needs can change.
A lot can depend on how confident you are getting "hands on" with the equipment.
For the 1.2m and 1.5m dishes I have on Jaeger 1224 H-H motors they require practically no maintenance.
After setup, they have not needed attention for years.
i mean any size over 1.2m would be better reallyNo need to close the thread when something might turn up.
My interest earlier was over the size requested, why a 1.8m Raven specifically when there are similar performance antennas out there which have a somewhat lower cost than the SS prices quoted in this thread ?

ok thanks yea i found them, do u think they are good enough for feedhunting? as they look old and batteredI bought the 1.5m brand new from Precision Antennas over 20 years ago. The company are now closed and no longer manufacturing dishes.
In an earlier reply I provided you with eBay links to motorised Precision Antennas 1.5m and 1.8m setups.
