"Back in the day" (1980s/90's) most H-H motors were 36V, although a few were not (I had an NEC positioner and dish that ran at 24V, but was otherwise the same).
However, as DiSEqC became predominent for smallish dishes, I think that that control mechanism began to used with a similar mechanical dish mounting & drive mechanism to the original H-H concept.

Well, you learn something new every day.

I thought people used actuator arms on the bigger dishes and that was it.

I have always looked at the lighter steel / alu dishes simply due to wanting to mount them on a diseqc motor. I believe a member here has mounted a CM 1M on a diseqc though - with adaptations.

A 'Maxx' 1.2m dish.

Not sure on the quality of these or dimensions.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that ALL dishes in that period used H-H motors, but many of the smallish ones did as they were a lot simpler to install and align than those moved by actuators.

IIRC, DiSEqC 1.2 began to come into use in the late 1990's and then the upgraded USALS version during the first 10-15 yrs of the 21st C - however, others far more knowledgeable than I can probably correct and expand on that timescale.

FWIW, decent quality DiSEqC motors can handle some dishes up to about 1.2m, but the mounting poles and environmental-withstand concerns become an issue from there upwards - that's probably another reason for a de facto limitaton on what can be done with DiSEqC.

Free Famaval. Looks in good condition. Stating it is 1.4m high so probably a 1.2m.

Hexham.
I am picking this up on Friday:D
I have just recently applied a new coat of paint to my 'unknown' 1.3M dish that has been in service for 15 years.

So I am going to treat myself to this free one.

Glad it is going to a good home.

I do sometimes wonder how many end up down the tip eventually.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
I threw some of my smaller ones in the skip recently.
That's where some of mine will be going before we move - just got to decide which ones!
PS: am in W. London, so if anyone in this area is looking for free/almost free smallish dishes (collection ONLY!), then PM me!
Edited:
If you want to take a look at them then search for my "We see no dishes" thread from several years ago. NB: the only one that is definitely NOT for disposal is the 1.25m Gibby!

PS: Now also posted in the Classified section - but there's a (hopefully temporary!) problem in finding the thread I mentioned. Paul R fixed the problem, so the link is now in the Classified section! :)

It seems like people are looking more towards IP for their needs now.

Starting to see more and more Channel Master complete setups being advertised.

Mad thing is it’s incredibly difficult finding a UK stockist of any dish above 1m and if you can, they’re very expensive. You can still source them in Europe but it’ll cost you 70-80 euro to have one shipped over.

Can a mod or admin create a "Bargain Second Hand Small Dishes For Sale" topic and move all these recent nano, micro, mini and small dish related posts to it.
There should be a definition of dish size for inclusion in this topic, lets say 1.8m and above in 'ere and anything less goes in the "Small..." topic
