Red is what was stated in original.

They are just theoretical maps with theoretical reception, based on when 2E and 2F were constructed as theoretical identical twins with more or less the same uk spot and ( pan ) european beams but with different TP capabilities.

Cannot believe the two sats will have the same highs and nulls for fringe reception on the ( theoretical ) uk spot beams.

Might be wrong but time will tell, bring on the PSB channel transfers:D

Agreed. The gradients of nulls and side-lobes are by their very nature immensely steep leading to highly localised effects on the ground. Most unlikely 2E's will coincide with 2F's.

It is a big surprise that we can receive Paneuropean beam of Astra 2E in my area, while for Astra 2F is necessary a satellite dish above the 2m for reception of Paneuropean beam of Astra 2F.

That means 2E is not identical to 2F.
Possibly a shift to the right of the European beam compared with 2F?

So, any thought on if ITV C4s also move on Thursday also? Or on another day?
I cannot remember if they did from 2d to 1n....
BBC moved 7 days after the rest. Sunday 25/02/2012.

Not necessarily, in the context of the side-lobes and nulls: Even if they were identical in every way, the exact positioning and attitude of the craft can change where those nulls and side-lobes transpose to the earth's surface - And markedly so.

How long has 10847V BBC HD transponder had symbol rate 23000 ? As just now I had to change that symbol rate from 22000 to 23000 and rescan to get those channels viewed again.

Even identical twins have their own foibles ( idiosyncrasies)

Now, correct me if I am wrong, PE 2E and 2F footprints are slightly different 2f covers Madeira at the expense of larger size on Canary Islands while 2E does not cover Madeira but has a higher eirp in Canary Islands. On the other side Astra 2E has a higher eirp in Poland than 2F that has a more uniform power over the east european side.

Whether this is due to different dish construction, feedhorn arrangement or just SES drawing trickery remains to be seen. My money is in that the UK footprints are going to be identical hence the sidelobes, I am holding to that by now, I have been on the lucky side of 2F, it is only a couple of days to discover all the truth!!, unless ses activates other UK spot from 2E sooner.

Hmm. They won't try anything significant during peak viewing!

Edit: Not intentionally, anyway! (Says he, having read the next few Posts)
