Have always liked black ultra since I started playing with dishes (after multiple rip-offs from tv suppliers), old golden interstar work well too, new G I´s not so good (Galaxy Innovations) but some of their boxes are good. However, why does 1.1m dish show 8psk above qpsk at many times when 1.8 shows 8psk below all the time? similar to your other report when at approx 12:30 2e was stronger than 2f. should we get smaller dishes?

P.S. I will keep Lee´s eye, you don´t need it

Something in the 1.8m setup adding noise. Could be LNB, switch, or something else. Also that was in loop so could be noise from the primary receiver.

You are confusing Galaxy Innovations with Golden Interstar. One is a wholesaler, the other is a manufacturer of satellite equipment.

Huevos, I didn,t doubt your alignment for one minute

Do you have any mobile interference test equiment? Still working on Quesada and still have no luck there on 10803, four dishes today and can get all BBC´s except Scocland. Must be some local problem as get it no problem at my house 3km away

(will pay consultancy fee if required)

No confusion, Galaxy Innovations is I believe a russian company now selling lots of lnb,s receivers etc that were previously Golden Interstar, if you read the small print it states "german engineering" but handbooks are in english and russian.

Yes they are a wholesaler in Elche, but from USSR (or what´s left of it) and have quite a bit of old Golden Interstar bits they are selling off cheap

If it is interference you'd see it on the spectrum analyzer. What size dishes is the interference on? And what make? Could be from 10810H on Badr5, or some illegal transmitter round there.

1st dish was 1.4 Andrews ch master, 2nd Famerval 1.1, 3rd 1.4 pf and 4th 1.9 pf, not sure of make, but all had same problem. wish I had spectrum analyzer, probably lighter that than old 14" portable

Just checked on my FTE Maxamal in Formentera del Segura (close to San Fulgencio) , can see 10803 no problem, so must be some local signal interference near golf course

Weather is just troposphere. Lots of other layers to get through that could cause some sort of effect. But nothing noticeable here. Orbit is pretty stable now, satellite hardly moves over a 24 hour period. According to my records nothing has changed in the daily cycle since switch on. To me it just sounds like a case of a dish that is too small. And when that is the case even a couple of tenths of a dB make a huge difference.

Have just seen my friend in Quesada with 1m Famaval (with black ultra single) which i re-aligned the other day. He is not up betwen 01:00 - 08:00 to advise picture quality at those times ( he is in mid - late 70,s), but did advise they have problems with signal between 14:30 and 19:15, after which have good picture on nearly all ch´s. This matches Huevos´s graph exactly, and comment re dish size

Have just come down from solarium, could see 2e,2f and eutel28 without the borrowed eye.

Guess Huevos was right, it is easier to do installs at night:-applause

The latest bunch of reports from the sat&pcguy forum used on the map with permission. The Moroccan report is interesting!

A 1.2m satellite dish in San Miguel de Salinas is NOT receiving the BBC channels on Astra 2E, ITVs and C4s pixelating. (Thanks Trevor)
A 1.9m satellite dish in San Miguel de Salinas is receiving the BBC channels on Astra 2E. (Thanks Trevor)

From what I have seen in Rojales ITV2 and C4´s are weaker than most BBC´s. A slight tweek (on elevation) should resolve problem

Huevos, just how far do you travel in one day to know all this!
Enough to earn a living.

Don't forget 2F has been transmitting over a year now. Once you know the level of one satellite you can easily correlate that to the other because the footprints are almost identical.

poor soft aluminium wall brackets that have sections cut out of their wall plate
The bracket in the photo is steel.

DSS are doing a bracket now that is a good compromise between price and robustness. Once mounted they are solid as a rock.

Hi All

tried to install a new GI 1.35 dish today, new type to me as they has run out of the usual ones I buy. Could not get astra 2e at all, only just receiving 2f (spot beams) pictures of dish follow. To my eye, dish seams to be twisted when viewed from below (shot 3). Anyone else had any contact with these dishes?

So did you get it working properly in the end?

I've come across a few of those and they seem to work fine. Only problem is they have to go on a 70mm mast, whereas most other dishes fit on a range of mast sizes. Seem to work fine though.

BTW, that install doesn't look easy to adjust. Personally I'm a fan of having two feet on solid ground when I fit a dish that size and I won't let a customer talk me into anything else.

No, have had to temp re-install LH110 which is picking signal up stronger. Am going to take the 1.35 down tomorrow, take to the supplier and ask them to test it.

Also, you are right, lifting that lump up two floors on your ladder is not easy, but I do like a challenge!

In an earlier post you mentioned DSS, do they have an outlet in Torrevieja as I think I might want to find a new supplier of equipment as GI have also stopped supplying 1.4 prime focus dishes and some other kit as well.

Just by chance I'd did an alignment on one of those dishes today in Moraira. Terrible. The problem is you have to loosen the bolts to adjust the dish. When you loosen the bolts the dish droops. Once adjusted you tighten the mount and it pulls the dish back out of alignment. Drove me insane. How anyone could adjust that on a ladder is beyond me.

It´s beyond me too! Took mine back to to suplier and said no thanks (after five or six times up the ladder). They did give me the other style of dish I prefer as they found some" out the back", still didn´t resolve the problem with lh110 having better reception than 1.4 in quesada. Have given Lee his eye back, looking for good priced sat tracker to replace it, and if poss spec analyser thrown in. I have to move into the eightenth century
