I am in the process of installing a multi-dwelling system in my complex (see other thread) but also, in conjunction with a friend, we are looking to purchase a number of 180cm dishes to service/upgrade expats in the local area. Does anyone have any recommendations for suppliers at trade (or near trade) prices ? PM me if its against the rules.

Here's one I put the bracket up side down for extra clearance of the roof. Drilled the mount so I could still use all 6 bolts to secure the dish face.

And here's a picture of forum member Freckled's dish we put up yesterday. Had to go down 5 floors with 2 cables. Resited the neighbours dish (30W). And had to avoid getting garroted by the washing line.

Rather use a Black Ultra. Dish size works ok (just) in Campoamor, But not properly in Los Alcaceres. Personally, if I was in San Pedro I'd be installing a 1.8m or at the very minimum a 1.4m PF.

Went to look at a job yesterday where someone had done the same inversion, but without re-drilling. Had also used steel cable to secure the dish from moving, because of a very poor 40mm mount used (on a 1.4 fam dish), also noticed could not get correct elevation due to where he had bolted the backmount. (Raised lnb using broom to give service for 2 days)

I am going back when the owner is back in May to re-install dish to new location off terrace as owner did not want it there in first place, will tale pics of set up before I move it

There are 3 bolts between the backmount and the clamp. It can go in either way up physically, but it is not symetrical and if it goes in the wrong way it is impossible to adjust the elevation because the mount bangs into the top of the mast.

Yep, I can see that is the case from your pic earlier, your quite close to the limit on the "adjustment cut outs" as well.

Anyway, my friend has gone back to uk so will sort my one out in May when I move it off the sun terrace. PS on the one I was looking at the top(your pick) or bottom of mount (as should be) was in middle holes in dish, that completely throws it off!

Giving forum up now, for tonight, as broadband speed is dying here

I would be interested if there are any confirmed reports of which dish size would be required on the CDS? I am about 55KM east of Malaga airport in a place called La Viñuela, obviously, since the 'changeover' we have been without mainstream TV via 28.2e, so are relying on 27.5w for these channels, but for how long, nobody knows.
I have a full Sky HD package as well as a motorised dish utilising *******, so I am not affected at the moment, however I would consider a large dish install if this would bring back BBC/ITV to my Sky receiver.
The problem here is that no one has ever needed a very large dish before so they are very scant, also I know that the footprint's beam has side lobes and null zones, so it is very area dependant. I have been talking to a guy in the Canaries who still receives BBC/ITV with his 3.1m dish, although now it can break up a little, especially when raining.
I would have thought that if a 3.1m works there, there should be some possibility of reception here? Problem being, no one is going to fork out for a huge dish that does not work.
I look forward to hearing your comments.

Just because Canaries is further from the beam centre doesn't mean it will be easier in CDS. For example to the east of Spain, Barcelona requires 1.8m dish whereas Valencia (350km further south) only requires a 90cm dish.

Opened a 1.4m today and the top half of the holder was missing so used a bit off the dish being scrapped.

I thought Barcelona was a complete null but you're saying you can get it there on a 1.8?

What is a complete null? The truth is we just don't have the info. How many people living in the city have access to a 1.8m motorised dish just for testing, or the know-how set it up properly. But anyway my info here is 1.8m works up there and that is from my wholesaler who sends quite a few dishes to Catalonia.

I'd just like to thank the members who gave me good advice about our installation. We've changed to LNB on the 2.3m and are now not getting any breakdowns

¿Do you know what caused the damage?
A tree.

¿Any relevance to the Spanish flag lying there?
What, on the rubbish pile? :-ohcrap

BTW, this lady gave another installer 100€ to buy parts needed to do the "repair" and he disappeared. And the original install, the concrete base wasn't connected in any way to the floor so once the dish face was off it just slid out of the way.

It'll be ok for some of the more "off the wall" Channels, though, surely?
Do you mean all the ones you don't want to watch?
