My grandson has just arrived.Within five minutes I find him chasing a grasshopper around the conservatory. He caught it and put it outside. I have not seen one for ages.We also have a butterfly in at the moment. It is a full time job putting them out.:)

It is giant spider season here, my wife has shouted for help from me four times in 3 days. I have so far caught 7 and put them outside

I made a friend last month when I dropped half a shortbread biscuit on the floor

Oh I think they can handle it, proof that Sleaford residents have trouble counting up to eight unfortunately.

Lee Young posted a picture of a spider which had crossed his path on Drove Lane.

He said: "Even my Rottweiler wouldn't go near it, I thought it was a cat at first, it was bigger than a dinner plate."

http://www.sleafordtarget.co.uk/Gia...eaford-homes/story-22932319-detail/story.html

Lee Young is obviously anorexic.

Anyway, loads of big spiders round here. The ones in the house are welcome, they eat the annoying flies.

I have just spotted this chap in my next doors neighbours garden (sparrow hawk), I think he is there for an easy meal from the birds that visit my feeders, I have seen him try for them before, he spent about 5 minutes there before flying off.

I thought he might be a youngster Rolf with the little bit of yellow showing on his beak ? or have you spotted something on his plumage ?.

Yes lovely birds, we had a bullfinch a few months back pay a visit, he was lovely, shame we haven't seen him since, lets see what winter brings, the long tailed tits have started visiting again :-).DSCN5989.JPG

Had a Warbler of some kind in the garden a lot recently and only just been able to get a somewhat poor snap of it:

I thought the eye stripe (Looks slightly yellow in real-life) made it a Willow Warbler, but SWMBO says the latter should have long since migrated.

Any ideas?

Yes, we thought of that but eliminated it as we couldn't see the white crescent they have under the eye.

Still, we might just have failed to notice it, I suppose.

Cheers Martin

I am no expert T but as you say willow warblers should be long gone and the chiffchaff can stay around, I think we need to wait for Rolf :-).

More about the plumage Martin, an adult male is more rose coloured on the breast and an adult female is darker grey.

The Warbler looks like a first winter Chiffchaff, the Chiffchaff tend to have darker legs and they are still around, saw one in my garden a couple of days back.
