1.2m Dishes - options/recomendatons?

My Satellite Setup
Triax TD110 with multi LNB 28.5E, 23.5E, 19E, 13E Inverto Black Ultra's (Black Premium on 28.5) into multiswitch.
My Location
UK
Assuming I can find the space when we move for a 1.2m dish (CS Link on 23.5e before you ask), what are the options?

I found:
Gibertini 120cm (on site sponsor site, can't find on Gibertini site?) Alloy I think.
Gibertini 125cm (40-43Db gain) Alloy I think.
Satchaser 120cm - can't find specs, steel?
Raven Gemini G120 - can't find specs or seller.
Fraccaro 120cm (41dB @11Ghz) Alloy
Andrews 120cm (42dB "typical") Glass Fibre

Any recommendations out of that lot for a good performer, that's not super heavy?

Will not be used with motor, will be well mounted probably on ground.

You might also want to consider a Laminas 120cm which works well for me and weighs less than 7kg with an AZ/EL mount. You may have problems finding a supplier in the UK though. Specs here :

Thanks for replies, laptop battery died as I hit post, forum via iPod interesting experience!

Did not realise Andrews was channel master. Pics returned by google make it look big! Shame signal so borderline or the 110 triax (know it's 105cm) would have been a good option.

Does a dish this size need a feedhorn and C120 LNB?

Will investigate cost/supply for polish dish that looks interesting. Job for tomorrow on a bigger screen!

Yes fit a C120 and feedhorn.

you sure a decent 1.2m will be enough for those channels as astra 3a has a weird footprint.

no you dont have to use c120 lnb and feedhorn, I'm using inverto black ultra lnb on my cm 1.2.

out of those I would go for andrews 1.2 or gibertini 1.2m.

Price for the Laminas, including delivery from a French supplier, to Normandy, just over €190. I know they deliver throughout Europe but I'm not sure how much their charges would be. My French supplier is here :

My channel master 1.2m has given me around 14 years service and still going strong.Regards.

According to the forum thread on it, YES: http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...8597-astra-3a-uk-reception-dish-size-map.html

Thanks, I plan to use a inverto back Ultra either quad or possibly quattro.

Gibertini looking more cost effective from those two.

Thanks, €109 from poland though! (link from your other thread on the Laminas) _http://www.satsklep.pl/index.php?s=produkt&id_prod=1036&id_kat=170&id_typu=0

Yes, it was cheaper, even though it was coming all that way. Really that was what put me off, as I don't have the level of French (or Polish come to that) to return goods if they arrive damaged and I thought it was a possibility with such a long journey. I've used my French supplier for other things and wanted to order a C120 and feedhorn at the same time as the Laminas, so it made sense to order everything from them rather than incurring two delivery charges. 2Galli only charged me €18 delivery anyway.

From enquiries I made I seem to remember you could communicate with Hollex (or Satsklep even lol) in English.

I emailed the nice looking lady under "international sales" on the satsklep contact page to ask about shipping. Dish is very good value at that price, but I bet shipping is a killer. Understand your logic with French supplier, but as I am not in France big shipping still. If the shipping is a lot, it makes no sense to buy the Laminas over a Gibertini or Andrews Channel Master. No UK suppliers it seems. May ask them how much to ship it to Czech and pick it up next time I am there.

I think my biggest issue is having looked at web images last night is 1.2M is bigger than my mental image of 1.2M compared to my current 85cm. I need to wait until I can get in the garden of the new house (new build) to look at angles as if I can't hide it down the side of the house as planned it might not get planning (from the wife) and cause the need for planning (from the council) if its visible elsewhere.

I can't imagine a problem with delivering it to Czech Republic, isn't it practically next door??

When a 1.2M dish arrives it is quite a bit bigger than you thought. Luckily as the Laminas dish face is very light it posed less of a problem for assembly and carting it about, however the very size makes it awkward to handle. Anyway if your ground mounting a 1.2M dish in the garden it presents less of a problem, don't forget I was trying to carry it up a ladder and mount it on the motor.

I want to ground mount to side of house ideally so access could be a problem getting past the dish if it fills the gap!

Czech borders poland, but they are both big countries, really depends on where they are but figure cheaper than UK shipping. Probably easiest to buy something local though to be honest as I don't need the lightweight for a motor as it will be fixed.
