Hello Paul!
what you dont have signal,on this transponder, with your prodelin dish?
i got reports that it should work with 3 meter in central europe, but sounds like they are not true!
how about the eastbeam 2 transponders on 8 west, you also have no signal on them?

i hope, that the new nilesat that will come, dont have this steerable beam, but i could imagine, that the showtime transponder, will have them,in the near future..!

This beam is actually from Atlantic Bird 4 at 7.2W (0.2 degrees away from Nilesat, which can make a lot of difference when searching for weak signals!) For example, i can get on my 1.2m dish in the UK 5 transponders from Atlantic Bird 4's wide beam (10719V, 10796V, 10834V 10873V and 10911V), but only if i nudge the dish 0.2 degrees away from Nilesat, when focused perfectly on Nilesat i get nothing from Atlantic Bird 4!

Paolo, i've got some old data for you:

_http://www.satleo.gr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10053

19.05.08
Kyriakos from Lemesos (Limassol) in Cyprus got this frequency in May on his 1m dish and Humax 5400.

_http://www.sdtv.gr/smf/index.php?topic=4916.0

29.07.07
sotos65 in Chania/Crete could get it on his Tecatel 1.10m and Skystar 2

babgia from Nea Makri (40km Northeast of Athens) could get it as well on his Tecatel 1.10m and IPBox400S

29.07.07
gip from Kastoria could not get it on his 1.20m

ser_sakis from Serres could get it on his DIGIMAX T-S 3000 with Gibertini 1m although the footprint shows <40dbW

31.07.07
adonis1 from Syros could get it with 13.8dB on his Gibertini OP150 and Nokia 9902

I don't know if the situation especially on the beam edge differs to then but it might be possible that Southern Italy can receive it.

10954V is a little weaker than other frequencies of AB4 here (Crete/Chania), but it is still strong on my Skystar HD2 (previous on a Skystar 2 it was surely weaker due its not so sensitive tuner) and on a Technomate TM5300. So there is no problem receiving this new channel from Tchad. At this time (2AM here) it is transmitting just a test bar, so the screen shot won't be of much worth! Anyway, here it is...

Hello!
yes you are right, there only 2 transponders!
i dont know, how the sentive of tv cards is,i only have skystar 2 for blindscan ,before this type of stbs hit the market, but now i dont use it

i can only enjoy watching tv programm, when iam in front of a real television!:)

the ab4 satlite,is the old hotbird 3 or 4,if i remeber right, the sold to them in the past,so before the do that,i did not notice that this satelite has a stireble beam!

this would mean, that, also older, and expasaly newer "birds"have this beam alrady, and when hotbird wants, the could also use it!

i know, that hotbird 4-6 rached indian region, but we dont here any reception reports from this reagon,to have a accord, how far/anstrong the "sterable" beams realy are, according,it would be the same out of footprint, situation

and each hotbird satellite, depents on the regiion has his own signal variations!
i could imagine, that the newer hotbirds, easyer to catch,in a reagion, where the regular beam, has been "ended",,but, for real out of footprinkt, with big dishes, like in the ab4 example, then ,is it much harder ,to get signal when you live near out of footprint, and much bigger dishes are reqeired, would be very intresting to know, about the signal difrence day/night,from each hotbird satelite,in a out of footprint reagion, what is the "strongest, and weakest transponder,on each hotbrid!

thanks, for the international coperation in this topic, only, with the input of everyone,we find questions,to all our answers,i hope!

okay,good night,until tomorow!:)

In Basilicata (Potenza Southern Italy), my 3.35m Prodelin was able to lock 10758V of Nilsat this morning, but the signal was not enough to produce a watchable picture because of FEC 3/4; with FEC 2/3 it would be possible. The signal strength was rather high. I suspect that this depends on the fact that too many transponders being allocated on Nilsat and Telecom can overload the LNB. By the way, Amos 2/3 presents the same problems: I receive 11474V, 11628 V, 11658 V (24h/24) and partially 11658V, 10890V and 10925 V. Interestingly, I have to move the dish a little when passing from 11474 V to 11659V. In fact, this small muovement corresponds to minimize the disturb from Telecom 5W where several analog transponders are present.

Update from Basilicata (Potenza). All channels in10758 V Nilsat is currently watchable with my TM5500 (but still not-watchable with my GoldenIntersar 8005) although the signal is rather low.

Second update from Basilicata (Potenza). This morning, I am receiving all channels of Nilsat 10758V with my TM5500. The signal quality is better than yesterday night.

what 7 degrees,very warm,we have 0 and minus -5 in the night!

i think,that ,we have a little bit more luck,with big antennas,to catch this transponder,we need a 10/11 ghz optimeized lnb,for this experiment!

smw, lnbs are better in this freqency range, and norsat lnbs are better @12 ghz, what lnb do you currencly using?

This morning, I checked the reception of 11595V. I could not get any image, although my instrument (RO.V.E.R. ) looked the transponder. The signal quality was 3.7 dB. Some minutes ago, I repeated the test giving 3.8 dB. So, I should have at least 1.8 dB more signal to get stabile reception.

Regarding 10758V on Nilsat. The signal was sufficient this morning even for my GoldenInterstar 8005. After lunch I will take some pictures.

Thank you. This beam looks to fall rapidly on its NW edge. I wonder if this is the case also towards other directions. But since every beam can have side lobes it's worth to try also elsewhere.

Hello!
there are to types of invacom lnbs, the old gray one,and the newer white one,the gray`s perfomance,is much lower, then on inverto 0.3 db
the white invacom i have never tested!

rember, the old gray incacom has only 2 years warrenty, the newer white one 4-5 years, warrenty the german incacom hotline told me,mabe in every country a little bit difrent!
i have much better results with inverto then with invacom on gregory and nilesat H
