10meter CBand Dish - Simultaneous Multiple satellite reception

My Satellite Setup
Cband satellite Dish, Multiple Satellites
My Location
UK
I have a 1.5meter dish and have 2LNBs attached to it, I point to two seperate satellites and the number of channels I receive depends on the number of decorders I then attach to each LNB...
I am looking at starting a FTA IPTV website and looking into buying a 10meter Cband non motorised dish, The aim of such a large dish is to attach multiple LNBs pointing to Multiple satellites...
I have not seen any Satellite Dishes over 10meters with multiple LNBs, is this possible?
I am hoping to target over 20 satellites at the same time has anyone ever done this?
I have searched lots of places and no one gives a clear yes or no
does anyone have any advice?

Wow - You want to put a 30 foot dish in your garden??? !!!

Do you realise just how big that would be??? Or how many tons of concrete you would require to make the foundations?

You will have problems with C-band - unlike Ku band where the satellites are reasonably close together along the arc the C-band birds are spread right round the arc meaning its unlikely such a system would be successful.

Which channels in particular are you looking for?

Some satellites can be found close enough in "clusters", so you could probably set up a few 2-3m dishes for each cluster. Even so, it would require a lot of space.

If you have enough room to accomodate a 10m dish, why not go with a 3m or 3.7m motorised dish to ensure you track all sats on the arc.

I just wanna know where TV24 lives ...
Cos any council willing to allow a 10 mtr dish ...thats where I wanna live too ..
;)
Not Cheshire is it ??
Your garden doesn't back onto Jodrell bank perchance ??...
I guess they have set a precident with the Lovell..
..that being the case ..maybe planning is a given ...
:D

His IP resolves to the Stoke on Trent area so close to Jodrell Bank :D

Hi analoguesat and thanx for your reply,
It is a big dish and Ive seen it but my problem is not the size but the ability for it to do what I want to do.
Im looking for about 150 channels off up to 40 satellites, the dish is not motorised and the reason Im looking at a 10meter, is for it to be able to cover a lot of the arc without moving.
does anyone know if this is possible? has anyone seen anything like this anywhere or do you think it would be easier to have 10-15 individual 1.5- 2meter dishes?

thanx

Hello Costactc and thank you for the comment,
I have enough room for the 10m dish and the reason for a 10m is because I want to receive from all satellites at the same time simultaneously... (a motarised dish will drop satellites each time it moves).
so if Im targeting up to 40 satellites at the same time, I would need a 3meter dish pointing to every cluster of 2-3 giving me at least 13 3meter dishes...

When you say 40 satellites, which ones are you hoping to pull in? whatever you decide, a single static dish will not work due to offset LNBs not performing past about 20 degrees. You'd be better with a couple of Torroidal dishes for east and Western satellites and then a couple of 2.4m dishes for the difficult to receive satellites.

You will also then probably end up having your ip transmissions blocked by the copyright holders of the channels you are re-transmitting.

What on earth are you after? There are nowhere near 40 C-band satellites operating in the skies above Europe. There is nearer a dozen or so.

And you might have the land to put a 30 foot dish in your garden but there is absolutely no way you will get planning permission for a dish that big from most UK councils.

As Rolf says the prime focus dish does not lend itself to capturing signals that are off the main focal point. It can be done for close satellites, but the fall off beyond say ten degrees means the dish will not do what you ask of it.

It might be better to check if the particular C band transmissions you are seeking are also available on another frequency.

You could use the 10m antenna for the awkward ones, and plan for the majority of the others with much smaller dishes

I can not find it now, but I have seen home page of some company in USA, they produce huge (like 7 or even 11 meters wide) toroidal antennas, and as far as I remember that was possible to accommodate 33 or so LNBs. Yes, that could be pricy, but you where ready to install 10m dish anyway.

There are about 35 C-band slots visible from Europe, and I can lock transponders on at least 15 of them with just a 1.5m dish and offset LNB.

Im surprised its that many - taking the Flysat charts and limiting the area from 55E to 55W its down to about 25 slots.

If the OP's location is indeed in the Stoke on Trent area then those are reasonable limits

AS, if you include 57E to 58W you are up to 29 C-band slots. Those are all above 16º elevation for me (and I guess around 10º for Stoke). And I have seen quite a few posts from people in the UK receiving from 68.5E, so 57E is not unrealistic. 68.5E to 61W would give 35 slots if you were lucky enough to have a clear view of the horizon in both directions. Not that any of this helps the OP though with this impossible quest to receive all these on a fixed dish. And I'm sure he doesn't realise 10 metres is the height of a 3 storey house, not exactly a hobbyist dish.

I think you mean TORUS 700-70TCK
7 meters wide for 70º reach and up to 35 satellites for the price of $ 134.000

That is right, thanks for reminder of link. Shipping weight 18 tons!

To give the OP a perspective on how large it actually is, here's DX Bozoth's set up - http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...113-dx-bozoth-nuts-every-positive-aspect.html. The largest dish there is 5m, so it's double that. In fact - take a look a eBay item number 160791090433

Hello Captain Jack,
It is a big dish I know but my problem is not the size or the cost but the ability for it to do what I want it to do.
Rolf and Channel hopper say a single static dish will not work due to offset LNBs not performing past about 20 degrees
Which leaves me with the option of about 10 3meter dishes that will take up even more space...
