Hi all ,

Just wondering can anyone help me. I have my dish pointed at 12.5 west and im tuned to the C11 transponder for opensky 11428mhz SR 30000 FEC 5/6 Horizontal . Im using a 1.1m triax dish , .2db LNB , Skystar 2 pci card. Im still getting horrible signal and my BER is all over the place.Anyone got any ideas of what may be wrong ? Im in the midlands in Ireland.Any help would be greatly appreciated

Nothing wrong with the sat, maybe you're getting local interference. It wouldn't be close to your PC's clock speed would it?
 
I have the skystar running on a seperate server out in the garage , Its a P4 2.4ghz , 1gb ram , 500gb hdd. I use VNC to control it across my network and internet.

I should be getting a better signal tho from where I am ?
 
Got any DECT phones, wireless home hubs etc near your cabling or computer??
 
I just have my DSL router that is a wireless AP , and i have a 1km bridge link to my friends house that runs on 2.4ghz
 
Kill the bridge link and see if thats the source of the interference - its in approx the right frequency range to be causing problems.
 
Ok just tried that , no change at all with both ends of link turned off. BER is still all over the shop , SNR seems to be jumping around a bit too , goes from 5.4 to 7.5 in the space of 30 seconds.
 
Bandwidth on that TP might be close to the limit on your Skystar.

SR*2*188/204*FEC

30000*2*188/204*5/6 =46Mb/s

Limit of Skystar2 is 45MB/s

OK on my Hauppauge Nova HD. I'll try on my Skystar 2 When I have time, and post the results.
 
Thats interesting alright Llew , i dont know if thats it tho. Opensky seem to only supply the skystar 2 for their service. Couldnt really imagine them selling cards that didnt work with the service ?
 
My BER is 0, then again my SNR is 10.5 (on my 2.3 revision).
 
Weird alright , my card is rev 2.3 aswell. Tried swapping the lnb aswell , but that didnt help.
 
No problem receiving all data packets with my rev. 2.6.
I was assuming the transponder was sending just a single data stream when I quoted the baud rate, rather than individual data rates.
