12731 H - which beam?

My Satellite Setup
1,8 Channel Master, Black Pro LNB with CM feedhorn for 28 E which is my main interest when watching TV.

Using two VU+ DUO 4K SE, a VU+ DUO 2 and an Octagon SF8000.

Fixed dishes at: 42 E (0,75 m), 28,2/28,5 E (1,8 m), 19,2 E (1,5 m), 13 E (1,1 m), 9 E (0,7 m), 5 E (1,2 m) and 1 W (0,7 m).

Lyngsat says 12731 H on Hotbird 13F uses the wide beam.

My opinion (as well as Flysats and Kingofsats ) is it's on the South East beam. I sent Lyngsat a mail a couple of months ago and they answered they would need a confirmation from Eutelsat before changing the information. So Lyngsat still says 12731 H uses the wide beam.

What's your opinion?

Just checked here from 17K North of Nottingham UK, 2.2 PF. No signal showing compared to the frequency 12.692H Wide shown on spectrum

This confirms it uses the South East beam!
 
Lyngsat information on the NOVA transponder was last updated (or created) over a year ago, so it may be out of date owing to migration.

 
South East beam (footprint) of Hotbird 13F (13.0° East) is available somewhere ?

That's why I sent Lyngsat a mail and asked them to update the information.
They answered they had to get a confirmation from Eutelsat but since then nothing has happened.
No big deal just thought I wanted to know for sure.
At my place it's hard to tell since the South East beam except 12731 H which is weaker, comes in just as good as the wide beam.
 
For me who watch a lot of Italian TV its quite hot. :)
There are also some good Polish music channels.
My point was that when it was launched back in the 90s, it was meant to be accessible to all in Europe. And now they are closing it off to parts of it with their mysterious spot beams.

It's clear that there's a very sharp drop towards the UK and Western Europe in general. Reminds me of the ill-fated Astra 1K east/west beams... Kinda glad it crashed and burned at the time.

I wonder if 13e has another secret "North West" beam and will start with frequency reuse like they are doing on 9e.

There are three birds currently serving at 13E, none of which are like the first and early successors. I would have to check numbers if they have been borrowed from other slots to keep it popular ( it's not called 'hot bird' for nothing)

The South East beam on Hotbird 13F is strange since I get it with full strength outside Motala in Sweden with an 1,1 m antenna (12731 H is weaker though) which hardly can be considered as "South East" of Europe.

Astra 1Q (planned to launch 2027) will also use spot beams (at least according to rumors).
We'll see how they affect different regions.

Looks more like an Eastern beam and less of the south.

Perhaps @Analoguesat can draw a map of this beam like he did with 28.2E UK beams :D

Oh yes, thank you! Looks like there's a very sharp drop past Belgium, given that it's OK on 1m dishes there but very little in South East UK on 2m dish...
