Ok read the lot so got a full grasp. I take it you cant stand on flat roof but if you could would be helpful. 15 years is a long time. Could be time for a new LNB!! What receiver are you using? The idea of motorised is to do 0.8w to the max, tighten up and try each sat on EAST and WEST. I have a Triax 1.1M a dark motor, and DUO2 and OpenVix Image 6.4 to drive the dish, with a black ultra LNB QUAD and very good cable. 16 years and I did change lnb once. My method was to use a receiver that gave signal via scart and a portable TV. Would sit on roof and tune in to 2 channels on 0.8W as above. Get the highest possible signal and I would move dish side to side, ie loose on motor. BUT I have to admit everything was plumb from the outset and even put level on bracket bolts. I followed the 3 dots ie aim like a gun, here is a pic and I would would move lnb in and out to get exact focal length. Took about 3 hours for the lot.
The dish on the stub can be offline ever so slightly and difficult to spot. At the moment I get 100 on galaxy and 95 on Aljazeera. I'm at 8 west near Atlantic.
You can tweak USALS from the receiver but you cant save the settings, say box and image and I can guide you. You can step the dish/motor and if signal goes up etc.
Here is a pic of my LNB and note this is at correct focal length. Say channel on 16e that you want and I'll check. Needless to say I'm not busy today!!
Thanks , got some PF100 for another project, so connected up the Xtrend 8500 open vix , twin GMedia 202 lnb.
0.8w
Galaxy 76%14db ,sky news 82%db15,,
fine tuned moved it in signal positioner a few steps west and got it to go 82 and 88.
So up the ladder and used the old method of the other half shouting the readings, she hates me getting in the flat roof, since we got it all replaced . I didn't have time to go through the whole arc. BBC 1NW was 100% on 28.2
39.e , 42e 30w in the 80's
Nice clear day here in Liverpool today ( windy)
I'll check 16.e later for a channel.
Darts is on ,
52e nothing still only difference to last June setup is the whole rig is slightly lower on the scaffold pole ,(few inches). So may be not visible?
I understand different receivers, tuners, SW images , cable lnb can give different signals. GT media8 readings are 70's
I was thinking of getting a 1.1m dish but not sure how much of an increase I would get , that said here in NW 2.971w should my 1m be getting higher in 0.8w?
