1N reception in Cyprus

Hi,
My cousin is out in (south) Cyprus and wants to know what size dish he needs
to receive the new 1N satellite.
I cannot find any info on here yet about Cyprus.
One member advised me that is was out of the question.

The UK beam? - forget it. We havent had a single successful report from Cyprus for the channels on the 1N UK beam.

hello to all,
if anyone there in cypress can pick up any 1 n free to air frequency now with a 4 meter dish then they may not have any problems.
if they can not pick it up then they will have some problems.
someone needs to test it.
now will be a good time.
we are picking it up with a 1 meter and a 1.25 meter no problem in naples italy.

No 1N in CYPRUS ,(the name of our island is in the title of this thread) not even on a 4.2m dish.

well if no 1n signal is comming in then i would guess that bbc will switch over in the future and it will be lost there.
and since we have it here in naples i guess we will be able to receive it here in naples with a 1 meter or bigger.
what a twist of fate after all these years

astra 1n is only temporary fora few years, no one know what 2f,2e,2g are goign toeb like for spots they could be that tight that even the drop off of 1n is seen as very good we will all have ot wait and see
 
all the bbc1 2 3 4.and itv1 2 3 4 .all ch 5 .are gon in [ lanzarotie ] they moved from astra. 2d to [ 1n ] and can not be got on astra 1n . but rte 1 and 2 tv 3 tng 4 all the irish tv is still there on the new astra 1n can aneybody tell me rte 1and 2 tv 3 tng 4 how the hell we still get them on 3.3miter dish on 1n and we dont get bbc itv thare are all on 1n for def
 
From looking here _http://www.ses.com/4628614/astra-1n Astra 1N has three beams, I would guess that RTE channels are on a wider beam.
 
What is the frequency for RTE ?

DOH ! Of course it is.It just clicked.
Maybe they are suffering from Arab interference like we were.
When the 2D 10.773 and 10.803 were affected ,the 10.744 was always okay here. In fact it was the strongest out of all the 2D transponders and hardly had a problem in the evening.
 
from what i have heard froma few eurpeon people i know rte might be on uk beam but i dnt know anyone far enough away wher ethe uk beam drops off to check but the beam strength is similar to that of bbc etc which is pretty certain to be on uk spot
 
For reference in Fuerteventura RTE was one of the weaker 2d horizontal signals but now is actually one of the better 1N signals. Is a slight anomaly as 1N horizontal frequencies signal quality seems to get better the higher the frequency.

Not having a single successful report does NOT mean there is no signal from 1N ;)
 
It makes bog all difference if none of the expats can lock enough signal to watch it though does it?
