2.5M With C120LNB?

Hi,

Right as you may know I now have my 2.5M Channel master dish, 4 Pieces.

It has the standard lnb with it that has been used by the previous owner/s.

My question is, If I was to fabricate a housing for the C120 LNB off my 1.8M channel master, How would I go about setting the LNB distance? Would I need it so I can adjust the lnb distance from the dish? Or measure how far the other lnb sits and copy it or what?

Fabricating something is no problem, fabricating something that adjusts... Not so easy.

What have others with larger dishes done?

I really hate to say this, but thought I saw a holder for the crappy Fortec star 1.8m dishes that would do the job.

search= LNB BRACKET HOLDER FOR 1.8M AND 2.4M FORTEC STAR DISH

Apart from that, you may want the adjustable feedhorn from invacom, so that you can get the F/d right as well.

Set the distance to the LNB for maximum smoke, the existing LNB position for a starting point though.

I have an invacom adjustable horn here and it did the job, spare now though.
 
is that bracket you said on ebay for £15 mate? Gold?

Will that work then with the adjustable feedhorn? If so I will buy both now :)
 
just noticed, the fortec is 3 poles, my CM is 4... I guess il have to make a bracket to adapt it?

Well, it looks like it will...


I made one out of a scrap bit of Ally, based on the Sstore one, and it worked well with the invacom feedhorn.

It says 40mm, but a 40mm to 23mm adapter should sort that.


EDIT, just saw your post, didnt realise you had 4 poles :(
 
I have an adapter mate.

Just only thing is this is a 3 pole mounting, I have 4... I could make an adapter plate up tho?
 
Yes, I think you could, you have a template already from the existing LNBF.

going to order that bracket now. adapter plate should be simple to make, il get a sheet of metal tomorrow

Is the adjustable feedhorn a must? I found it online for £30, I can order now if its a must :)
 
I got one here you can have for a tenner posted, if I can find it. Not sure if its a must or not, but you do need a feedhorn, and if adjustable, even better, as the f/d of prime focus dishes does vary
 
I have a C120 LNB and feedhorn off my 1.8 CM, but if you find the adjustable il take it for a tenner mate :)

The feedhorn off the 1.8m wont work, because its for an offfset dish, and for an f/d of 0.6 ish, the adjustable goes form 0.32 to 0.43

Just a 1m dish sadly, with an Inverto Black Ultra. I was not permitted the 1.8m PF by er' indoors, hence why the feedhorn is spare.
 
One day..., I just need a bigger garden, or ditch the wife, LOL
 
haha!

My missus doesnt say to much about mine! so if you cant afford the bigger garden, you can always afford a new missus ;) lol
 
I wish..

Naah the new garden would be cheaper..... I think.
