2016 UK setup

Made the most of the hot weekend to set up my 90cm dish to go along with the 1.2m I set up a couple of weeks ago. Now my satellite setup is reasonably complete so I can relax a little after living in this new house for almost 6 months without much access to European satellites.

The 90cm dish is looking at 28E with extra LNBs for 23E, 19E and 13E. I did want to centre it on 19E with an LNB on 9E rather than 23E but the wall mounting bracket for the dish didn't allow the dish to swing over enough before hitting the wall so I've had to put that plan on hold. I may replace the dish and bracket eventually but for now this is how it's staying.



All the cables go into a waterproof electrical box with an 8 way EMP-Centauri DiSEqC switch.



I've also got one port on the LNB on the 1.2m looking at 1W from the previous thread connected to the DiSEqC switch.



Not pictured is a separate 60cm dish on the roof going to a 32 port distribution point for Sky/Freeview/FM/DAB in various rooms of the house that was left by the previous owner. Only 9 ports are actually connected at the moment...

Looks good Timo. Only comment I would make is that I presume the 'U' tube mounting has plugs in so that it doesn't fill up with water.

Thanks. Yes, it's got tight fittings plastic plugs at each end.

Me too - although I'm not sure what is worse, a loose cable or one running at an angle down a wall because the cable wasn't long enough.

Ah, yes. Any piece of cable cut to length will always be 6" too short.

Hehe, I'm looking forward to seeing your setup. I was actually toying with the idea of replacing that 90cm dish with a T55 but even that may look a bit bulky on the house. Of course I could mount a T90 in the flower bed.. hmm. No, must.. resist....

I applaud your choice of proper outdoor cable for outdoor installation.

I suspect that the weather will bring on a lot of installs in the coming weeks. (I have a couple to come...!)

BTW, what's on 23E that take your fancy?

Re the " U " tube mount, see loads in Spain, normally inverted, so no need for plugs, although I realise proximity issues may have been involved!

Well I decided with a new house, fresh start, and all that, I'll try and set it up properly rather than the previous mish mash of bits thrown together and botch jobs at the old place. I mean, this time I splashed out on a £10 electrical box to store the switch in and placed the cables in conduit rather then just shoving it under the lawn and hoping I'd remember not to slice it with a spade. ;)

A lot of it has been inspired from seeing other users setups on here.

I probably use my non-Sky satellite setup for listening to European radio more than TV. I've always been a fan of Dutch radio since the analogue days so still listen to Radio 10 and Sky Radio occasionally on 23E. I used to listen to Radio 538 too but that's encrypt now. I also check out Czech music channel Ócko sometimes as an ex-school friend sometimes presents a show on there.

Yeah it wouldn't fit the other way due to the cladding and the plugs where pretty substantial so wasn't too worried. They needed tapping in with a hammer as they where a tight fit. I also feel the dish is less likely to slide off the end when setting it up when it's a U shape like that too.
