Is it possible to shield the LNB so that it can only get signal directly from the dish, ie a DIY feedhorn? Cone made of aluminium foil or somesuch? If you do this and you lose the signal (well - assumming that the cone hasn't been mispositioned so that it blocks *everything*) then you're certainly getting a reflection falling directly on the LNB. If you don't lose signal then you're getting a reflection that's hitting the dish then hitting the LNB.

Thanks HB, bloody strong signals, i will stick to fringe in future :D.

Side-lobes with some dishes can cause odd peaks to appear. On my Gibby 1.25, if I check, say, 26E with my spectrum analyser and slowly move a pulse or two towards 28E, there's a small but significant peak on one or two 28E carriers that rise and fall, then rise when homing in on 28E.

The AGC in the reciever will tend to hop to the first strong signal within around 10MHz of the wanted signal.

My 1m is pointed at 16e and a few channels from 19.2e and 13e will usually make unwanted appearances in the channel list in blind scan and occasionally when using a list with a pcie card.

You get a tighter beam on a CM 1.2 hexah as you will know more than me, I cant pull it in from 26E no matter what I try manual scan etc, I am unsure if you have watched the video but please take a look if not.

Yes I saw the video.

If you have tried jogging in step by step from clear space in the east say from 24e with the rx set to the right frequency and still get nothing on a clear day it must be time to get the 1.8m out. :)

I might get wrong, but I think this signal-11173 H- is on Eutelsat 25B, not Mena, which has a pretty good coverage in Europe,as you already know. The signal is too strong for my dish to be on Mena!
Best Regards

Amazingly, despite tales of my dodgy motor elsewhere on this forum, the signal on 11173H is reasonably strong here despite my dish being on 26E with it being reported at 5.4dB with my TBS 6925.

That 11173 H data transponder comes with 7 dB S/N.
The FEC 3/4 transponders that I used to lock before, have become too weak since a couple of weeks.

Looking at Feedsat's scan (from France, closer to MENA beam), 11173 H has similar dB value as the other existing ones.
And combined with the reports from UK.

Indeed as satesco suggests, 11173 H might finally be on the Europe-friendly East beam.
Of course, with just a data transponder!

To the south this is what I see/Por el sur esto es lo que veo.

If I have adjusted antenna 25'5ºEast, I have nothing in 11.177Mhz signal, but if I move the antenna + 0'5ºEast (26ºEast), I have signal on the spectrum analyzer is not valid for the tuner.
-----
Si tengo la antena ajustada a 25'5ºEste, no tengo nada de señal en 11.177Mhz, pero si muevo la antena +0'5ºEste (26ºEste), ya tengo señal en el analizador de espectro, no es valida para el sintonizador.

Thanks Tururu, that confirms again 11173 H is East beam and not MENA beam.
Me saying the East beam is Europe-friendly was wrong, because Spain and (of course ;)) Finland are excluded.

Typical for data, short frames are used, that most receiver can't lock.

11173 H is gone as it looks.
Instead, other strong peaks appear between 11140 and 11200 H, none of which can be locked.

Well, above are some quirky replies and comments on reception of this bird......no exception here. :D
As 'CJ' says in this thread:-
'Must be a really sharp cliff on its footprint as I haven't heard of anyone getting it in UK..'
bien sport 4k in november on 25.5e

Those frequencies highlighted are from 28.26ºE Astra 2G and no sight of any from 26.0ºE.
All dB's similar. Later will move a few 'steps' to correct and check results!
