Hello all,
Sorry if this has been mentioned before....
I have a question regarding moving my old 60cm offset dish to 28.2E. I say old, the dish has been up for a while and a little rusty, but not to bad, installed this system I have years ago on 19.2E, it's a pace mss1000 system i used to use, I currently use an F3 box, I was looking into just getting a freesat box and sell the F3, but having trouble setting the dish to 28.2.
I have a Satlink ws-6909 which I haven't used in a while, every time I select 28.2E the signal is low, even though I've set the dish to 28.2,well have I!.. I noticed if i change the TP num to frequency 11345 either H or V,i have good signal, but still not convinced I'm on the correct satellite... If I reset the dish to 19.2, the signals spot on, right upto 26E on the satlink with dish pointed at 19.2 the signals okay, but as soon as I select 28.2 and move the dish,(TP Num frequency 11222),the signals low.
It says on dish pointer my elevation is 23.6 and az is 144.2, can't seem to set this correctly... 19.2 azimuth seems to work on 138 degrees, not the 154.3 recommended.
Do you all think I'm setting wrong or do I need a newer dish a Mk4 or higher, as its the only thing I've not changed. I have a quad LNB, SC519Q S/S which is working well as far as I can tell, so other that, maybe the dish is to old I'm not sure.
Please advise if anyone can,
Cheers all

Have you tried scanning any of the transponders on the F3 to see if the dish is pointing to where you think it is?

It may be that there are trees or buildings blocking the signal from 28.2°E.

11344 V 27500, and 11344 H 27500, are both active transponders. on 28.2E, with a lot of FTA, Free to Air, channels, that your satellite receiver should pick up.
Code:
https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-2E-2F-2G.html

Providing you have a clear line of sight, no obstacles, tall buildings, or trees, between your dish, and 28.2E, and you are in the UK, then you shouldn't have a problem, picking up 28.2E.
How old is your dish, and LNB?
Can you still get pictures, off 19.2E?

Once you are getting the strongest signal, off 28.2E, by gently moving your dish, altering the elevation, and LNB skew, then try manually scanning in 11345 V 27500, and see if you can view the Horror Channel, and other FTA channels, then please post back with your results, and signal quality readings. If you don't see these channels then please try a blind scan, on your receiver, and post any channels your satellite receiver does scan in.

Hi,
Well I thought this also, the line of sight looks good.
I actually took the dish down and setup in the garden with a good view I think, there are trees, but don't seem to pose an issue..
What I did also was connect my satlink to a new setup on a new build this morning, communal satellite system and ironically had the same issue with the TP number on 28.2,strong as anything on 19.2 but low on 28.2, not sure where the dish was pointing though as no one on site to ask.
So this could possibly rule out the dish, unless my satlink is faulty .

Hi,
I did move the dish to 28.2 I hoped, if I connect my satlink and select 28.2 frequency 11222,(default when selecting 28.2E on satlink) no signal at all, only if I change the TP to frequency 11343 V or H, I get a signal but still not sure if on 28.2. May have pay for dish pointer pro to be sure on correct satellite.

I will scan the channels to see what I get.

Thank you.....

I think the Satlink WS6909 is DVB-S only. Many transponders are now DVB-S2. Therefore you need to select transponders that are DVB-S only, such as 10714 Horizontal, symbol rate 22000.

Oh okay,
, I didn't realise this, I will check with those transponder settings and let you know,
Thanks for the information .

Well have taken some images of the meter readings, the dish is currently fixed on 19.2E, as I say, if I select 28.2E on the meter and alter the TP Num to above 11264 and up, I get a good signal for 28.2E even though I'm on 19.2E,how odd? The azimuth is 155 degrees... Elevation is just over 25.
Dish pointer states 23.6 elevation for 28.2E, is this correct as lower than 19.2E elevation...

Yes many transponders on 19.2°E and 28.2°E share the same basic parameters, which is why you need to use a receiver to scan these transponders to work out which satellite your dish is actually pointed at.

Oh okay,
I will do this then...
So basically, if I adjust the dish to 28.2E then alter the transponder frequency to 11264, should this help to set the dish to 28.2E? Azimuth 145 and elevation to 23.6..

Actually,
Is it best to use 10714 as stated before as a reference to set the dish to 28.2E.....

10714 H 22000 would be good for you as the transponder on 19.2°E is in DVB-S2 so the meter wouldn't lock onto it.

Set the transponder on the meter first and then move the dish until the meter shows lock and the highest Q reading. If you select Tp Scan does it show a list of channels found?

Previously TP scans did show channels, this is the last one I did from the communal satellite system on the new estate..... But wasn't sure if was 28.2 or 19.2, mind you it had 2 f connections and one said Q, so maybe this is on 28.2, and thinking, as this meter doesn't scan S2, this could be why, so will try the lower TP tomorrow afternoon.

I will try again tomorrow at some point with what you suggested and get back to you.
Thank you so much in the mean time for your advice and help.

Pete..

That is 28.2°E, however 'Q' probably means Sky Q, which uses a different type of LNB that is only partially compatible with your meter. Also communal systems may use yet another type of signal. Concentrate on your own dish.
