32" TVs

Looks like I now need a TV for my cctv,

Turn it off, turn it back on it clears, but I know it's on it's way out.

Anyone know of a suitable type tv about?
 
Go for a cheap Bush.

Only around 120 sovs these days.
 
Bush TV = whatever was the cheapest/grottiest set from "wherever" that the current brand-owners could find at the time! Might last a couple of years - if you are lucky - and won't be repairable because no-one knows where it came from or what is inside the case!

And probably "not" a good picture, so good luck identifying the intruders who will be after all the "good kit" you have in the garden.

So spend a bit more and get something half decent from a reputable manufacturer.

Looks like a faulty screen matrix ...assuming its LCD that is ..
Deffo not repairable..
cest la vie ..
I seem to remember a Toshiba doing that ...but it was a much smaller screen ..

I have three.

All are getting on in years and have never failed to give good service.

Each to their own ..........

It's precisely why, having found the first one reliable and the picture excellent that I subsequently bought the others.

No "might" or "probably", just good experience and an unstressed wallet!

I repair Bush TVs all the time ...
Thank gawd they fail or I'd have no work .
That said they are cheaply made ...but then what can you expect when supermarkets pile em high and sell em cheap ...
Pennies saved on production means cheap bargains at the till ..
It's what customers want mostly.
The Insides are more often than not Vestel ...or some Chinese insides like ChiMei.

The Company/Brand Bush went out of business back in the 90s ..
Just the name lives on ..
Done deliberately to sell to those that remember/ascociate with the good times.

Ahhh ...
Fohen and Hirsch ..
yep ...
usually Vestel
..and as I suspected ..LCD matrix
failed power lines to supply the printed tansistors within the screen matrix ..
inaccessible and non repairable ..
Like trying to repair the filament in a lightbulb..
dont you just love the throw away society..

And sold by Argos, so no quibbles if you end up with a Friday afternoon one!

Good to know they are repairable.

For those of us on a budget, like Chris and me, an all-round value purchase.
 
It's the third one I had, the rest of them had major problems.

By the time this one started to play up I was well out of guarantee.

Sadly it's called built in obsolescence ...and is a deliberate ploy to up churn rate and keep the great credit machine turning..
Built to fail..
..But I do my bit to throw a large spanner in this 'machine' where I can.

Sadly, VS, there are too few like you left. Most Repairers would suck their teeth and flog the customer a new one.

Glad to say I share your approach and strive to extract every bit if life from my "stuff" and even then won' t bin it.

I know buddy ..I know ..
I am a dying breed ..
Just to give you some idea ..
The TVgroup I am a member of (a spinoff from The TV Magazine ...anyone remember it ?)
Had over 10,000 members pre 2000 ...both UK ...and International ..
We now number less than 300

Blimey. That is some decline.

Added to that, there aren't that many of us who fix our own stuff (Electronic or otherwise) these days, either.

However, I digress, but do buy something decent!"

When I entered this ahem ...trade ..way back in my teens ...
I thought I had a trade for life ..
Well ...
If I die soon ...it's still true ...
