Hi All,

I am looking to get into the 36v actuator motor installation all ready do normal diseqc motors fine so if anyone can give me some advice then that would be great.

some of the questions i need answers for are.

Can the motor be fitted to all types of dishs?
what cable do i need?
how do they track the arc as they seem to only move left/right?
which size actuator do i need?

i plan to mount these bad boys on 1 meter triax offset dish

any help would be great

Dishes that have a manufactured polar mount.

The motor cable will require 4 core for reed switch type. Two wires for the motor supply and two for the reed switch.

It's a modified polar mount. Movement restricted to a single axis in such a way as to make the El vary as the mount is moved from H to H.

Will depend on dish size and travel required.

Limited knowledge on these but there is a polar mount for the Triax Td110 I believe and that will require either a 12" or 18" jack.
 
And don't forget you will need a dedicated positioner receiver (now rather thin on the ground), or a DiSEqC converter such as the V-box II and spare mains socket. That bit of cable that would normally run between DiSEqC motor and LNB will now be installed between the two boxes.
 
cheers guys can i buy an atachment polor mount to make it fit a standard dish i was going to get the technomate vbox2 to take care of the power. the reason i was wanting to do this is for the dreambox with the issues it has powering a motor and even a diseqc switch but i think i have found a solution to this by increasing the power on the box
 
You need the correct polar mount for the dish although you may be able to modify a mount; not worth doing for anything under a 100cm.
 
I think the triax polar mount has now been discontinued, but there were some going on ebay about £50.00. I used to have one many years ago and think I had a 10" or 12" actuator. Gibertini do an aluminium 1m dish £64.00 and the polar mount for it is £18.00 plus the actuator £40.00 (which needs more clearance behind the dish) and vbox about £40.00. They are usually much faster than a diseqC motor and usually able to withstand more exposed locations and abuse from the wind etc. They use Diseqc 1.2 rather than usals for positioning so you will have to find the satellite positions manually and save them. When set you can either use your vbox or reciever to change position.
