Got this tripod off a certain website last week. It cost 21 quid all in ,absolute bargain i thought, so now the commtel 60cm has been mounted on it . This is just an experiment to see what satellites i can pick up here in the midlands. Results will follow. Using the technomate tm3000d.

Nice idea, and a handy little tripod mount to have.
 
Yes. very good purchase. Easily portable to find the best position in your garden.
 
How stable, and strong, are these tripod mounts?
Do you think a 60cm dish is the maximum it can take?
 
It would take more Mickha ,but i've found obviously it flexs when its at the top of its extension. The base spreads out almost touching the floor, lower than in the 1st picture. Just today some of the breeze we have is making the dish flex.
Managed to get 88% quality with line of sight on Hispasat 30W,80% on Thor , i reckon this will be better when the breeze drops and i can extend it more over the top of my garage.
 
Those figures seem quite good, on a 60cm dish, Have you got the stand pegged into the ground?

I put a 1m on the same type to find a spot for my fixed pole, It was fine for temporary searching. But leaving it out in the winds, even with slabs on the legs was a bad idea as I found out.
 
I can believe that mapperuo, no its not pegged -i think it would be best to have it sheltered if using a large dish. When the wind gets behing the commtel it really pulls on it, you couldnt risk leaving out without pegging or something similar. Today i have my conifers stopping the breeze hitting the back of the dish and pulling it over. It's a double edged sword really, it's light enough to move easily but doesnt have a lot of bottom end weight to keep the centre of gravity low.
 
Having a session this afternoon ,thor is booming in at 90% q, but eutelsat 16E only 51% at best-onwards onwards......
 
87% on eutelsat 33, 4 transponders received. Whats the deal with this satellite, it seems under used. (Also 83% on hellasat, 70% on turksat but the weaker beams i,m not getting on this 60cm.
 
Eutelsat 36E 63% in the dark outside.
 
Picked up Telstar 12 15W today 63% quality , wasnt too bad considering i was pointing it near my bungalow roof six foot from the house. Next time i'll try at the bottom of the garden.
 
Had a good day today. Sunny with thick cloud occasionally knocking the signal out from :- Intelsat 907 27.5W, Intelsat 905 24.5W,NSS-7 22W and intelsat 901 18W all with the dish pointing at my bungalow roof. (Hardly many FTA though!)
 
Ha today i got Intelsat-12 45E for the 1st time. The satlink tuner is so much more sensitive than the technomate receiver. Pity there's so little on 45 really.
 
Which model Satlink are you using Paul ?
