Finally someone selling what looks like a complete unit ..with feed horn..
So I bagged it of course ...
roughly half n half cost wise ..
as much for postage as the ODU ..
Now comes the wait and the sweats hoping it gets here.
..and of course functions.
many false starts with another punter who appeared to be running a Shill ..but this one was buy it now.

A Ka band A 2 way outdoor unit (ODU) it has an LNB with 2 ports so true linear reception with H/V switching after modification..and the turtle shell lump is the uplink transponder ..
This will be discarded ..also has a very nice OMT and dedicated Ka band A feed if complete ..
Everything being useful except the uplink transponder unit.

Original use was satellite internet/data traffic

Maybe an uneducated question, but Is there anything Ka band A in produciton in Europe?
Or will it be feeds? Or even just data transponders?
 
Racing feeds from Italy and ITN newsroom feeds only atm ..
but we have been doing these for a while now with modfied SL3 directv lnbs from the states..
Or Norsat 9000A single polarity lnbs.
The difference here is that theoretically possible to switch dual polarity H or V with this lnb ...and is Linear ..whereas the SL3 (also dual polarity rhcp lhcp) is designed specifically fot circular reception ..
European and UK feeds in Ka are linear ..so hopefully this is better suited than an SL3

I suspect this unit is the same one we discussed a while back ..
the one from Champaign, Illinois
That he refused to sell outside the USA ..not even prepared to send it to you in Canada ..
Looks like he changed his mind buddy..

Nice find VS. Be interesting to compare tuner sensitivity with the other units we have for this Band.

Hope you have better luck than I had with the Hughes I had sent to me for Band A, i.e. bricked tuner when received :-doh

Speaking of the Hughes LNB VS, have you checked Band B on the new Thor 7 with your Hughes? Only ACM carriers, but they bang in on my Hughes on the Triax TD88.

Dont think I even have a stored position in the Vbox ..
any chance you can supply a known transponder spec ..so I can search the arc for it ..?

They also appear in a Horizontal scan ..
Need to nip outside now and check if I have the Hughes depoliser set for linear or circular ?

As signals appear at the same frequencies but different db levels ..

My KaA Hughes was dispatched today and have been given a UPS tracking number ..
Rather UPS than some dubious courier..
So fingers crossed it's all good.

It will be in the hands of the unknown when it leaves Erlanger VS. The last time something came to me via the global shipping programme it took 2 weeks from Erlanger, said it had delivered to me which it hadn't, the courier left it with a neighbour a few doors away, not calling card, nothing.. luckily the neighbour was honest and came up with parcel. Don't want to worry you!!
