90,000 Sky HD boxes replaced Thousands of Sky+ HD customers are to have their boxes replaced after a fault was discovered by manufacturer Pace. Ninety-thousand people, about one in 10 HD customers, will be affected. Sky says the fault involves the internal cabling and the quality of the connections between components but is not a safety risk.
Anyone affected is also being given three months free subscription to Sky's HD pack, worth £29.25 (E34), when they have their box replaced. The 90,000 boxes in the first batch from Pace are model numbers 9F3001, 9F3002, 9F3003 and 9F3004.
Sky is replacing the boxes which it says are unlikely to fail within the 12 month warranty period.

Would these be the boxes with the extra component output I wonder? Sky want all the boxes to have just HDMI. Seems a bit of a coincidence if if they are the Component equipped boxes. Can someone with one of these affected boxes post if theirs is just HDMI equipped? Not that I dont believe Honest Uncle Rupert lol

I'll take a look at mine later today. I wonder if the new ones will have silent hdds.

I was still thinking about this last night and my suspiious mind was in overdrive lol.

Why would Pace be making a statment about these affected boxes, are they not made by Thompson?

Little Birdie tells me they contracted some out to Thompsons in order to meet demand. Don't know if this is correct, or not, but would make sense (?)
