ABS @ 3 west

I have been following this thread.Done the ocasional scan.Don't expect to get anything.To my surprise. A scan just now gets me 11547V 1223 7/8 6.9dB

Just back from an interesting month in Japan.....nice now to see this great thread.....thanks to all.

Just put the C-band on...no dialectric......managed to catch only this before (presume) testing stopped.....still pleased though. :)

Yes good thanks M........did not really connect to the net whilst there....complete enjoyable break and now have to get sorted again.........wife extremely tired but made sure she enjoyed the different culture/food etc.........explanation of events helped her greatly.

Anyway, 100's of threads to read through and selfishly could not resist starting with this one being a related C-band post. :D

Moderator, can we please split this sat in to C-Band & Ku-Band?

As it is a new bird in a brand new orbital slot ; it's not expected to show hot activity in the coming few days ; on the other hand , Arabsat had leased all the Ku TPs on the Mena beam , so , who knows ?!
 
I locked this transponder yesterday, I am unsure if it was ghosting from a near by satellite ?.

11579 V 1223.
 
See it is listed on Flysat as Amos 3 ME ...Martin.

Bermuda, 10th September 2015 – The revolutionary ABS-3A satellite is now in full commercial use. The satellite started service on 31st August 2015 to serve the Americas, Africa, Europe and the Middle East regions.

Launched on 1st March 2015, the ABS-3A satellite built by Boeing has performed even better than expected having arrived ahead of schedule. In-Orbit tests have been successfully completed and the satellite became fully operational on 31st August 2015.

ABS-3A features 48 C and Ku-band active transponders (96 x 36 MHz equivalent) and is equipped with high performance beams to support the rapidly growing markets in the Americas and Africa as well as the European and Middle East regions. ABS-3A provides expansion capacity to reach markets servicing high-growth data, video, mobility and government applications.

"ABS’ innovative design and procurement approach for satellites is designed to provide the best possible economics to our customers. ABS-3A and along with ABS-2A, launching in early 2016, will deliver these exceptional economics on current next-generation satellites. Both ABS-3A and 2A will further strengthen and solidify our global expansion and offer flexible capacity to our growing fleet,” commented Tom Choi, CEO of ABS. "We look forward to serving diverse markets using increasingly innovative and affordable solutions for many of ABS’ current and future customers.”

In addition, the 702SP’s patented dual-launch capability helps customers share launch costs, which can significantly lower overall expenses for a satellite owner.
