Dear All,
Please allow me first to congratulate you all on your efforts.
I am an absolute beginner on the channels hacking subject. I bought 5 days ago a receiver called SR-1000 HD, which came preconfigured for most of the encrypted channels. I linked it through ethernet cable to the router. I would like however to receive Discovery HD and NAT GEO HD (any similiar channel in HD is also welcome) , in fact, this is the reason why i got this setup, to be able to view the documentary channels in HD. I am an ICT Consultant, with extensive experience in open source and GNU Linux. I know how to setup a new receiver, but no like the one i recently bought. I can see it came preconfigured with about 5 servers addresses that my guess is it connects to to decrypt channels.I have a small fixed dish which can currently get Nilesat 7w, Astra 1, Hotbird 13.
Sorry for this rather long post, but i really appreciate if someone can point me to a beginners tutorial or informational site that explains how these things work and how to fiddle with them, just point be to a starting point and ill take it from there. Thank you so much in advance for you replies. And if anyone needs help with linux/oss software or any IT issue, i am ready to offer my help.
Thank you,

You have basically bought a receiver which connects to a preconfigured pay server which may or may not be included in the purchase price. Sorry but any discussion whatsoever about these receivers is strictly and absolutely forbidden on this forum.
