I am not getting a lock at the moment!! Just in cloud

I was just getting 40% at 9am - 10am, stable picture. Just picked up my narrow band feedhorn from the post office and got another 10% with dark clouds but then again this box only goes up in 10% at a time! I'm expecting a Norsat like the one Pipino pictured to arrive on Wednesday which coupled with this feedhorn may improve things further.

As you've got 6 boxes, have you checked signal quality on all 6 at the same time? Just wondering because the first box you got and pictured had Al Jazeera markings on the back which suggested it was an early model.

They were, saw them when I got home in the early hours this morning, nothing but this on 7 and 8. I think 7 and 8 are the channels to go to on Friday evening / Saturday morning. We know when there is only one game on, it is on 3 and 5 (PLTV).

Had a few pixel blocks and sound drops during the second half on 3 but signal was fine. Was getting worried there was about to be a downpour but I think they were broadcasting issues. Quality went up to 60% at half time. LNB skew is crucial on this satellite.

60% at half time on a 1.8 is very good!

Its completely meaningless to try and compare - its a measure of his dish, lnb and receiver performance, nothing more. Put three different rx's on that dish and I guarantee you will get three different signal measurements.

Do you mean where mine breaks up picture at 44% his may break up at 54%? etc?

Yes more or less.

Any signal measurement is only useful on any one dish/receiver setup.

Dont get hung up on signal strengths as they are not comparable between systems and certainly not between receivers. If the other poster put his receiver on your dish he may well get 10% difference in measurements , despite only the receiver having been changed.

It is 60% at the moment, was 70% earlier. I don't get how you get 53 / 54% on yours, my receiver only has increments of 10%. Breakup on this receiver about 40%. I look at BER on my SatMicro G2 more than anything else.
