AC unit help

Brake cleaner, isopropyl alcohol, zippo lighter fluid, they tend to remove tape residues relatively harmlessly...

Well solar power in the hotter climates is the way forward, in the Arava 70% of the electricity consumption even with millions of AC units running is powered by solar energy, quite remarkable

If the sellotape residue is still there, try something like a hairdyer/paint stripping gun (gently now!) and then some cellulose thinners - that'll get rid of almost anything like that stuff!
PS: And, as I said in "mid-Winter", get some better wall insulation - keeps the house warmer in Winter, and cooler in Summer!
This was my old house which was a new build, however that bedroom was on the 3rd floor which was part of the very tall roof.
This older place doesn't seem to be as bad, I leave the curtains closed in the day then open windows in the evening.

Solar, yes, a way to go but there is no such thing as a free solar system.

My Syster and Brother-in -law got the free solar system, it didnt cost them anything for the equipment, but they are on a 20 year lease at $200 a month, the PG&E bill is around 2 to 5 dollars a month, but the hidden charges from PG&E are what kills the cost savings.

The hidden "True Up" charge at the end of the year was over 600 dollars, this porked them up real bad, why was this not put in with the monthly charge but showed up at the end of the year?????

They wish they could get out of it but with a twenty year contract no way.

Build your own off-grid system, rather than being tied into those 20-year contract things (they do the same over here), with plenty of battery storage a good system should keep an average house ticking over nicely... :)

The biggest problems with an off grid system big enough to run most houses, is the fact that at the end of about 10 years you will need 10 to 20 grand to replace the batteries. (biggest cost of a large off grid system)

Unless someone can develop a battery pile that will not need changing due to chemical breakdown then your stuck with the AGM type battery.

Well no I was referring to a national system as has been developed here in Israel, there are very few properties involved in lease schemes here, perhaps more in the city however most of the electicity comes from the numerous solar farms in the area, here 50MW is considered small, but also in the USA they do so however from what I have read they tend to use focussed arrays to generate steam to turn a turbine and then a generator

What I have been seeing lately is that some schools and big shopping centres are using the parking lots for a solar panel field, makes for some nice shade for the cars.

And most of the big power company's here stateside will fight tooth and nails to keep any type of national solar power system off the books.

And it is very very hard to switch to an off grid system here when you hooked into big power's tit, if you even think about removing the main meter from the panel they will sue the pants off you.

And the solar company's will not sell you an off grid system if your currently tied to the main power system, they want the big tax break when your putting the excess power back into the main grid, and not using it to recharge your battery pile.

There is no doubt it is a big boys game
