Adding Monoblock to Hotbird

Looking for help/info/advice please. I currently have two zone 2 minidishes up on the side of the house. One has a single cable feeding a TM 5400ci+ Super with Hotbird. The other is for Sky+ and also has an additional single cable running to an old Sky box for the FTA channels. I want to do away with the old Sky box and use DISEcQ(?) so I can run both Hotbird and Astra 28.2 into the TM (at the moment these two boxes sit next to each other in the kitchen with Sky+ in the living room). I've worked out how to go about this but I've complicated things by considering getting a monoblock for the Hotbird dish so I can pick up 19.2 as well. Can anyone recommend a suitable device, how I would go about adjusting the dish and tell me if this would just confuse the whole system? I don't want a motor because I only want these sats and I'm not getting a bigger dish as the wife thinks I'm off my head as it is!

Monoblock LNb's are designed for 80cm dishes and may not perform well on a zone2 dish

A two way DiSEqC switch required for the two dish feeds. You'll need to configure DiSEqC 1.0 switching on the TM receiver.

Yes, the key problem is the shape. If they were "noraml" shape, the size would probably not be a problem.

But I have heard of people succeeding with reasonable (but not perfect) results.

There is also the small matter of attempting to cascade a DiSEqC switch with a Monoblock - which already has an integrated DiSEqC switch.

I get round this by using an A/B switch instead.

Might of been mentioned previously on the forum by the use of an uncommitted DiSEqC switch :) _http://www.televes.com/hojastecnicas/103169.pdf

A/B switches are cheap and emit a satisfying "clunk" !

The Spaun uncommitted switches are fairly dear, IIRC. How much are the Televés ones?

The Spaun uncommitted switches are fairly dear, IIRC. How much are the Televés ones?
 
Thanks for the pointers. Just going to leave the 19.2 add on at the moment then. I'll confuse myself otherwise and I'm still fairly new to this game. Was only really something I had a small notion for. As long as I can get the UK free to air channels and Hotbird for JSC, Showtime Maghreb and possibly Cyfra+ I'm happy.

If you use a 4 way DiseQc, you will have the option of just adding another LNB for 19e. There are some universal multi lnb holders about that are cheap and look it, but do the job well enough.

I've done 13e/19e on a zone 2 with no problems. Atleast if you use a 4way switch you leave the option open for yourself later :)
