My Satellite Setup
BASIC MOTOR SET UP

just got my new db 500s back of a mate who flashed it and i can only get 28* BSKYB, i have tried to go into sat find, motor set up and every button i can see but the options that did give me a list of satellites on the old machine only come up with 28*, bear in mind that it was a challenge for me to use this keyboard so anything really tricky or even slightly tricky may be too much for me.

A DM500 or indeed any DM stb is not a plug and play stb. You need to spend a good 3 months reading all the tutorials that are already on this forum in order to become proficient at setting up and using a DM. In any case your 'new' DM500 is a clone as they have not been made for over 5 years and the clones have always had problems driving a motor, so there is no guarantee of success

Hi @alan1572,

It sounds as though this is the only satellite in the file 'satellites.xml'.
If you have a Gemini image installed and your box is connected to the internet then, on the Dreambox remote control, press, Blue Button...select Extras / Setup...select Satellites.xml Loader...select Europe, Africa & Middle East...go down the list of satellites and press OK on every one that you want (change Red dot to Green)...press Exit...press Green Button to start the download...wait for download to complete...press Green button to Install a New Satellites.xml...press Exit 3 times to clear all menus...press Power button until Restart menu appears...select Restart Enigma...after restart attempt your motor setup again.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, John.

thanks for the replies, the start up screen is "darkstar", looks like i'll have to hand my "new" clone over to someone who knows what their doing, thanks.

got in touch with the fella who flashed it, he told me that when he flashed it and went through the set up he entered that he only had one satellite and then continued, all i had to do was a factory reset and then when prompted enter that i had a diseq motor, i then had the option later on to search and add satellites, thanks for the replies.
