ADS-B / Flightradar 24 setup

I find Saturday nights are quiet anyway - and there isnt much in the air over Somerset atm according to fr24. Start your own thread in this section telling us what you have got, antenna etc - we might be able to suggest some improvements.

Started new thread for the south west.

Ive change from the pi3 to using an old netbook running win7 as the usb ports stoped responding. Much easier to set up, although the netbook is definitely struggling a bit with the load. I'll have to find summat with a bit more grunt to replace it!

I am using a core i3 on my setup, and it's running it all ok. Win 10.

Having noticed some of the operator logos are missing from VRS Ive started creating my own from the logos found on wikipedia.

Heres the bmp's for HOP! & Primera Air Denmark. Drop them into your operator logo folder. Nothing fancy here, so no tailplanes or any tricks - just the straight logos

The next iteration of the 1090 antenna has been made this afternoon:

mk1 8 segment
mk2a 12 segment
mk2b the 12 segment had a heavy landing after making some adjustments & dropping it! It became a 10 segment :-DOH!
mk3 16 segment.

The mk3 is as big as its practical to go here - it about 5 ft long. I need some stronger conduit pipe - the plumbing pipe is a bit wobbly! :D

Certainly locking planes further out but not getting enough signal for the positional info to be plotted on the splats. I cant go any bigger - an amplifier will have to be the next add on.

The green spikey is the correct flight level for that lock. Its being detected at about double the previous range

That looks quite a bit better. :D

I have added another 16 segments to my 16 segment to make a maga twig.

But tonight is a bit of a quite night.

That should put a bigger plot on the mlat server:D

Mk3 antenna working well - all the spikes out towards Carlisle are new.

M-Lat coverage is looking MUCH better - the two blobs down near the Yorks Dales are impressive - nowhere near a lock on the splats that far south yet though

A 32 segment - thats insane :D

The 32 segments twig is not working as well as I hoped.

Perhaps because it's Sunday, there is next to nothing out there, or I have decreased my range, only time will tell.

Your mlat coverage looks much better now, since your little tweek to your twig :-)
