Hi can someone suggest an f type crimping tool that does. Both wf100 coax 7mm and rg6 coax 6.5mm,beemlooking at the adjustable one in screwfix but it looks like their crimp f connectors area only fo rrg6 thanks
 
If it crimps RG6 then should do Wf100 also. Just have to make sure you use the correct sized F connectors to suit the cable.
 
thanks for that satelliteman but i have also looked on a well known satellite store and in the description it say "Typically fits all standard 7mm type cables. (Not 6.5mm cable" and thats a cablecon crimper any ideas anyone cheers
 
What cable do you intend to use??

If using RG6, remember the standard can vary considerably.

Thread title says compression, crimp connectors are not compression, surprisingly.

Screwfix do SAC compression connectors and the appropriate tool.

I general, I find, 6.5mm 7mm, not much difference, the compression connectors fit both most of the time, I suspect that the crimp ones do too.
 
this is the one I use and will fit both cables as it will just compress the connector together.

one thing though can you buy snap n seal for wf100 cable as I got some connectors but they dont fit over the foil screen on the wf100 cable with out some pressure.

Yes, they can be a bit tight on the wf100 foil, easier if you smooth it out a bit, or rip it off. No probs on RG6 though normally.
 
That's the compression tool I use, plus I use snap-n-seal for WF100, you need to twist the plug on upside down first to smooth the foil, then gently twist it on the correct way around. Makes life much easier if the cable is warm, the cablecon crimps seem to be an easier fit than the Thomas and Betts snap-n-seal.

For crimp connectors, I use a cablecon and other ratchet crimper, the crimp connectors are no different in external diameter for the various types of RG6, but the really cheap RG6 tends not to be gripped properly by the crimps and they pull off easily.

Cabelcon CX3 compression are another high grade connector.

Just a few variations of different compression fittings shown above iwol ;)
 
You can either use Crimp or compression, different tool required. Whatever your preference is. I prefer compression, using CX3s at the moment. Though I admit to using quality screw-ons with the rubber seal as well.

Nahh, you're right, I ve gone off them now, LOL. The plaistic bit at the back, doesn't go in straight sometimes.
 
Might be worth considering the Cabelcon self install connectors also; no crimp or compression tool req. Use them a fair bit now, good quality.

5.1 for Wf100 type.

I buy my snap-n-seal on ebay, last lot from the UK, worked out about 11p each.

Those tool less install F connectors are pretty good, have asked one of our advertisers to stock them, don't know whether they do yet though.

that works out well for you rolfw, do you use them on nearly every install you do then ?

those self install connectors look nice can they be reused as they aren't compressed on are they being self install ?
 
I use mostly snap-n-seal compression wod, the odd SAC high quality "F" types with "O" ring and also some crimps, depends on what I'm doing.:)

The tool lees connectors compress with the screw action, so I guess they could be re-used, although I've never tried.
 
Yes they are a compression fitting but with a tug, you can get them off.
 
Yep, they can be 'yanked' off, but you have to pull real hard. LOL
