Advice need on DM models

Hi,

I need some help in choosing a dreambox, the following are my requirements. I currently have a Sky dish with Sky+ box in my bedroom, with a cable from RF out going to a TV in my living room.

I want to replace the Sky+ box with a dreambox, to receive channels from Astra (Sky) and Eurobird 9A (for Asian channels). I understand I need a bigger dish with 2 LNB and a 2 input DiSEqC switch. Alternatively, a new dish could be installed for receiving Eurobird and existing dish used for Astra.

I prefer to put a cheap dreambox receiving the signals (in either room) and play around it. Once I am happy with the channels I receive, I want to buy a DM800HD and install it as the main box, feed the signals from this box to the 2nd box and watch seperate channels from it. Is this possible?

If so, what box would be suitable for me to try first, as it later needs to receive the signals from the main box.

Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum :-)

A 7020 is a reliable, older model. I'm sure how much they can be had for these days and the 600 is the "starter" model (I'd advise against a 500s as they can be a bit tempermental in my experience). The 7025 is twin tuner model.

Do you mean 19.2E or 9? I'm not sure if you can get 28.2E and 9E from one dish...
 
You cant easily "feed the signals" to more than one box - you will need separate cable runs - the easiest way to do this is two cable runs from the dish to both receivers, each with separate disecq switches and twin or quad lnb's on the dishes..
 
Yup that looks like the idea :)

Two twin/quad lnb's (I always recommend quad to give you some future proofing)

Two disecq switches

One cable from each lnb to each of the disecq switches

Cable from disecq 1 to receiver 1

Cable from disecq 2 to receiver 2
 
Fantastic, thanks for the advice, much appreciated. This way, I don't need to worry about sending the signals from one box to the other, it takes direct from the dish, if I got it right.
 
Correct - you just set the switching up in the menus on both boxes and forget about it.

Id suggest you set both the boxes up the same, so 28E is on port 1, and 9E is on port 2.
