Advice needed on motorised setup

That's not Black, it's grey and is a standard colour.
 
As Rolf says thats grey and indeed the standard colour. I know, I installed it.

You can paint a dish yourself with car spray paint, grey is the best colour. Use matt paint, and nothing metallic.
 
Thanks rolfw & Rick. DSAT also mentioned that he received some help from the forum in ordering the bits. I'd be really interested to know what bracketry & motor are in use here, or what you'd recommend for a Penta 68.
 
The TM2300 or TM2600 metal drive are good to go. Bracketry/masting will depend on the installation but a TK arrangement is usually the norm :)
 
That one is on a Technomate 2300, it's mounted on cut down T&K's and 2" Galv steel tube.

Sorry for yet another newbie question, but what are T&Ks?
 
Sturdy galvanised brackets use in pairs: One resembles a T shape and the other a K shape.

Suitably spaced, they can provide tremendous strength and support for quite large poles and dishes.

They come in different sizes in order to accommodate the necessary stand-off from the wall the dish is to be mounted on (which depends upon dish size, wall orientation and whether or not a motor is to be used.)

Also can be used in KK, KTT, and KTK combinations for large dishes subject to very high wind loading, or multiple antennas on the same mast.
 
In addition, the KK also comes in heavy duty with an extra brace across the top.
 
Bet you never realised there was so much to know about T&K brackets :D
 
Ha, Thanks Rick! I'm guessing that bracketry to some might seem quite dull - but its not something I'd want to get wrong! :-ohcrap

Now all I need to do is decide between the TM2300 and the TM2600....... :confused:
 
Both capable motors, the later being metal drive.
 
is it much noisier than the 2300?

Haven't noticed any difference in noise between the two, couldn't tell them apart IMO :)
