Hi,

I have never seen this device live in my hands, but you can get an idea here:

It costs in Portugal around 320 Euro, which is an intersting price.

It belongs to the category of "cheap Chinese field meter that are more like portable satellite receivers". However, these devices have apparently evolved since the last units I have tested myself and now offer constellation diagram (judging from the video, it is slow and of little use) and a relatively fast spectrum. What they really are good at, even compared to professional grade field meters is the amount of functionality: you get tuners for DVB-S/S2/C/T/T2 and even video playback.

For hobby use and mainly for having a portable all in one receiver device, they are nice.

Mind you, the firmware might not be perfect and you might suffer from deterioration. All my Chinese field meters got aged rubber after 1-2 years, keys broke by themselfes, battery is not good anymore.

If you want to do feedhunting, nowadays the best option is to get a Crazyscan compatible PC card and use Crazyscan or EBSpro (which now is freeware).

If you need to go up a ladder and want to hold a receiver in your hand to check tuning, why not use RDP or EBSpro for Android on your smartphone? If you still want a cheap and small device, go for it.

Regards,
Vitor

  • With the HD 5 Combo satellite meter, all TV signals can be measured. It provides an accurate measurement for satellite, cable and terrestrial television (including DVB-T2 HD). With the DVB-S2X measurement, UHD frequencies can also be measured. The complete housing consists of robust and high-quality aluminum, in which a 5 inch AMOLED color display was integrated. As a small highlight, an LED light is installed on the back of the housing in order to measure the system even in low light conditions. The operation is a children’s play with the clear and clearly structured menu. All functions for measurement are easy to reach and almost self-explanatory.

PROMAX RANGER NEO 3
=============================

ranger-neo-3.jpg

The adoption of H.265 HEVC DVB-T2 HD format for the new digital terrestrial TV offers the extra bandwidth and flexibility required to allocate new content with resolutions up to 1080p. RANGERNeo 3 is the first TV Analyser of its kind to offer HEVC signal demodulation compatible with this new broadcast signals now on air. The hybrid operation allows the equipment to be fully operated using both the touch panel and the conventional keyboard

    • T2-MI packet analysis. It can receive a T2-MI signal in the form of both ASI or IP formats, performing IP transport quality measurements, T2-MI packet analysis and PLP de-encapsulation.
    • dCSS LNBs. It stands for Digital Channel Stacking Switch LNB and they come to take multiuser single cable distribution systems one step further.
    • Extended IP functions.
    • Ethernet connectivity for remote control. Besides remote control the IP interface can be used to save or retrieve data from a PC, copy channel tables or installation information, dataloggers, copy transport stream files, screen shots, etc.

I have a SAB X-Finder 2.0 (rebadged AMIKO X-Finder 2.0) and, as a part-time dish tweaker, have found it perfectly adequate for my purpose. Certainly far more versatile and useable than the SatLink 6830 that I previously owned!! Check out/download the manual via my OneDrive link:
