In my man cave, amongst other crap, I have an ancient JVC "record player", which I am happy with. This feeds just as ancient JVC stereo power amp, which I use purely as a pre-amp for the player, which in turn feeds a Kenwood AV 6080 receiver, which then feeds two Gale "monitor" speakers.

I would like to potentially replace the the JVC pre-amp and the Kenwood receiver with a single unit, though happy to entertain other ideas.

My dream setup would be the Technics SE A900S / SU C800U combo (mainly for the needles!) but that's way too expensive for my pocket...and it doesn't have optical input :(

But, on a budget of £100, I have managed to pick up the following kit from local Facebook buy/sell group:

Onkyo TX-SR608
Sony STR-DG910
Samson Servo 240 Studio Amplifier (?)
Arcam AVR100
Sony STR-DA5200ES (has phono stage input!)
Cambridge Audio Azur 640R

None of them came with any remote controls, sadly, so I would have to purchase some or use a universal remote. Only really need it for volume control, power and changing sources. I have no need for an all singing, all dancing one - just need a decent sound for the two speakers.

Sooo.... do I use one of the above or do I sell them all (hopefully at profit) and but the Technics setup?

Not sure how we can help you.
Regarding the remotes, I think a universal one is the way to go, but check first if the model that you choose has in their database support for all the parts in your kit.
I think Logitec should have a cheap remote for 6 gadgets.

Just looking for general advice really. I am not an expert on audio equipment by any means, so looking for some direction.

A point of concern for me, is the excessive power consumption of audio systems.
I used in the past a Sony STR-DB940 AV receiver and the power consumption is 290W.
It was OK in winter I could warm my hands on the body but during summer I had a fan near by to cool it down.
Now I am content with listening to TV using it's internal speaker perhaps at 1-2 Watts and other sources connect to a PC small speakers.
Your Sony STR-DG910 might be just as power hungry as the one I used, if not more.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Re the Onkyo receiver: the next gen 600 series (the NR-609) has a well known issue with the HMDI inputs going AWOL due to problems with failing ballgate array connections on the HDMI inputs board (happened to mine :( ) - you can find a lot about that on AV Forums. Might also apply to the 608, so check all the HDMI connections for correct functions. OTOH, ONKYO UK extended the warranty on that issue on the 609 and similar units of the same generation and gave (still giving?) a foc collection, repair and return service.

Don't know much anything about the rest of the kit.

PS: AV Forums might be a good place to look for reviews & comments on the rest of the kit, so as to help you make up your mind what to do with each item.
